Thats not how it works at all, if it was, Scotland should stay in the Union then as it’s closer to London then Brussels /s

The Nordic council isn’t a union or anything. We do share the North Sea with Norway.

The Nordic Council isn't a big deal, its an intergovernmental organization where members go to chat to try and co-ordinate a common policy on certain issues like overfishing, protecting dying languages, etc. I can't see how Scotland fits into this at this point in time, especially given that foreign relations is a reserved matter. But IIRC a few Baltic countries are also observers so there is precedent.

You answered your own question.

Fuffy

I remember Ancestry did a nationwide genetic heritage test and found Scots compared to other Brits are the most related to Northwest Russia/Finland (it was pretty low like 1.4).

Though the area with the highest Scandinavian descent was East England (York area).

I think Scotland's local politics do align with the Nordic countries. The Scandinavian economic model is loosely very slow and steady.

Yes it’s not great, as I have said before I think Scotland should have the chance to vote again and choose its future.. but things like this are just stupid and turn people off of Scottish independence.

Anyway, we will know in the next few weeks if Scotland will actually get the vote.

@Benji knew you were!

Not at all, the SNP failed to gain the outright majority they wanted and you know what I think of Scotland being a drain to the British taxpayer, y’all can leave if you want!  Me pointing out your consistent flawed arguments doesn’t mean that I personally care what you do, just don’t lie :vegas: Also, my city is now a Labour and Green majority so I’m very happy with the results.

It’s a system that is extremely hard to crack a majority howeve:

The SNP has the biggest amount of constituency votes for any party since devolution

The SNP has the biggest mandate (percentage wise) since 1966 (even Bojo didn’t that big of a mandate)

Most constituencies won since devolution. They were 1 short of a majority but still a pro-independence majority.

...the way Dolly's Scotland threads continuously get derailed by the SAME people (who continuously bend over backwards to defend a right-wing populist English government over and over again as if they were getting money for it) :deadbanana:

I just wanna know: What has got y'all so SHOOK about Scotland have the slightest bit of international clout and wanting good relations with countries it shares maritime borders with? Are they supposed to hate the rest of Europe and hoist flags of BoJo spreading his cheeks and showing his hole the EU at their ports or what?

I don’t get it at all. I’ve been called some awful things from certain members - Blind nationalist, racist, xenophobic, hate the English and was even told to leave my own country because I believe in independence. I offer a positive message for Scotland and the unionists just revert to insults and hatred.

The only people that should get a say in Scottish issues is those that reside in Scotland. Same with English issues, only those who reside in England should get a say in their issues.
