"What’s the row all about? In short, French fishermen are furious at having their access to British waters around Jersey limited by new rules following the U.K.-EU Brexit deal. The terms of the deal require the fishermen to use GPS data to prove they’ve been fishing in these waters from 2012 to 2016. But 17 French boats have be unable to demonstrate a historical link to the area and have had their access limited. The French government claims Jersey has whacked these boats with new red tape without communicating the requirements properly beforehand. Jersey says the French have had since January to get up to date on the new rules. The BBC’s Jessica Parker has a detailed explainer.

Le strop: This barney boiled over yesterday, with AFP reporting that 100 French boats were planning to sail to Jersey’s St Helier port today to protest. The Times splash carries big talk from David Sellam, from the Eastern Channel Sea Authority, who sounds like he’s auditioning for a role in Les Mis: “We’re ready for war. We can bring Jersey to its knees if necessary.” Remarkably that language was backed up by the actual French government, whose Sea Minister Annick Girardin threatened to pull the plug on Jersey’s power: “As far as Jersey is concerned, I would remind you, for example, of the transport of electricity via submarine cables. So we have the means, and even though I’m sorry it has come to this, we will do so if we have to.” POLITICO’s Cristina Gallardo has more.

Such a messy pettiness. Maybe both countries just too stressed out during pandemic and need some intermezzo bilateral conflict for some adrenaline rush.

Very this.  Both have elections now or coming up so it’s quite a political charged move.

All I’m going to say, I love seeing the UK and the brexitiers reaping the seeds they have sowed.

Don't you feel empathety for the 14 million who voted AGAINST Brexit in England, Wales, etc?

Easy to forget that results were pretty close everywhere but Scotland. No doubt you're not the only one who feels you were dragged out against your will

He has said repeatedly he hates England so I doubt it, it’s nationalism but because you can throw an EU flag over it people seem to believe it’s “okay.”

I feel sorry for those that voted against Brexit. I don’t feel sorry for those that voted for Brexit. They have their cake, let them eat it.

And so far the UK has come out on top with their conflicts with the EU.

Oh, it's an alternative reality...

I have NOT once said I hate England. I HATE WESTMINISTER and the political system down there. I have said I don’t think the union works for Scotland. If you think I hate England, show me evidence I have said I hate England?

I have said Scotland was dragged out against its will. Scotland has never gave consent to be removed from the EU. Scotland was promised we would remain in the EU if the country voted to remain in 2014 (which 55% of the country did), Scotland deserves its place in the EU.
