UnknownUser71 2,878
Björk (the original alt queen ), Lana, Lorde I would also say Sarah McLachan (90's icon) her album Surfacing is amazing. Alanis has a lot of bops as well (Thank U is one of the best songs of the 90s period). Sheryl Crow is ALSO one of my favorites (her music is more country/folk/alt oriented). I like some Fiona's songs (her album Tidal is iconic though). and what about Dido???? She got a point, she's a legend, she's an icon and SHE IS THE MOMENT (her last album is amazing, I LOVE the folktronica vibes in her music , she puts a lot of heart in everything she does). Are we the same person? You listed all of my favorite artists. I grew up on the 90s female singer/songwriters. Alanis, Sarah, Dido, Jewel, Sheryl, Fiona, Edie Brickell, Lisa Loeb! We could go on and on! and yes, Dido’s “Still on my Mind” record deserved so much more. Was so lucky to see that tour. She’s divine

SevenWonder 4,256
What about Japanese Breakfast, Jenny Lewis, Tori Amos, Liz Phair, PJ Harvey? I love Lana and Billie, but they're not really alternative. Just pop with a twist. On your list? It's Fiona for me. But I love the 90-00 alternative girls best (see: my list!) Chesescake 3,919
What's the definition of "Alternative" in this thread? Cause I don't really know KB and FA were alternative. So I'll choose Billie I guess.

tomsches 17,364
Without Kate Bush there wouldn't be either one of the others. Kate Bush sort of "invented" being a weird female artist and she invented the - as I call it - Britney Spears microphone. So without Kate there wouldn't be Madonna, without Madonna there wouldn't be Britney and without Britney there wouldn't be Gaga. Don't LMFAO-react me.
