I like having all of my Pokemon in the same kind of Pokeball, so I just stock up and it usually takes less than 10 without battling. Sometimes though I may go through like 15. Pokemon X uses the same friend code as your 3Ds (No more separate friend codes yay) So in your 3ds main menu, click the orange face at the top and Your Mii+Friend Code will be in the top screen.
