KillerCupcake 3
Normally it doesn't matter whether its version 1 or version 2 for a pokemon game in each generation, ultimately; it's up to personal preference and the pokemon exclusive to each version. I think the newer games are a lot better at trying to accept and help new players learn the ropes, so you could go with just X/Y on 3DS, but if you have other platforms try one of the earlier games if it tickles your fancy. Starting off with X and Y would be fine. Each game is set up like it's your first time playing. Thanks guys!! I might just start with X or Y since I'm extremely broke lately. I play other previous versions eventually if I like X or Y!!
Redstreak 6,653
It's weird for me to think of starting at X and Y and then going backwards. :P Though that would be interesting. It's so painful trying to play the older games because there's so many new features and pokemon that you miss having

uo111 5,251
Would you guys recommend starting the Pokemon series with X or Y? Or should I go play one or two games before I get the new one. If I should play something first, which game? If you want you could download a gameboy color emulator and play Red/Blue/Yellow or Gold/Silver for free. While I'm sure starting with X/Y wouldn't be a bad thing, you will never know what the 2d versions are like  It's actually very simple to do. Just google Gameboy Color Emulator and google Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Silver/Gold ROM. I can't believe you have never played pokemans

I would hate to play the game with computer keys, ugh. I do have a gameboy advance sp though. But I wouldn't be able to afford anything now unless the games are like $5. I know, I can't believe I haven't played any.

ChicaSkas 22,411
Do any of you get backlash for still liking Pokemon? Yes. I'm 27 years old, so it gets awkward sometimes. But I don't tell many people. Very few actually. It's my private business what video games I play at night to wind down from a hard day at work.Edit: People can be stupidly judgemental for NOTHING.I would rather play an exciting harmless strategic game like Pokemon then some horrid gorey warlike killing game. And I'm fully functioning as an adult in all other areas of my life.Screw people who give you crap for liking Pokemon. there are FAR FAR worse things you could be into. Do YOU own the 4' by 6' Perfect Illusion promo Poster? Will pay you for it. Pic: http://i.imgur.com/UWuzumk
Redstreak 6,653
It's been one of those things that have been bugging me for a while. Society feels like once you get to a certain age you MUST stop liking certain things and I don't get why. If you enjoy it and it's not hurting anyone, especially something as harmless as a video game, I don't get what the big deal is. And that goes for a lot of things. ryhanna 3,507
Pokemon's a bit like the 90's/2000's generation's version of Mario or Sonic, I think. It's one of those games that so many people grew up playing, and it's become quite a classic. That's why there are so many people who still play it even long after they're outside the target age demographic. It's a bit ignorant for someone to give you **** for playing a classic video game.
