Daughter of Aldo Gucci Disapproves of Movie

Yes it sucks that your family's drama is out there for all to see but I'm sure her surname has opened a lot of doors for her and she's lived a very  privileged life. This is the price you pay.

I bet if Ridley invited them all to see a screening they would still go!

Kind of hope it has the same tone as Succession - that show strikes a balance of making you feel for the characters on some level, but also feeling utter disgust @ their awful behavior.

I'm reading the book now and the comparison to Succession is spot on -- I think about it all the time! You're right that these people are all quite complex and very interesting, I'm hopeful that it will all translate into a really compelling movie!

I'm reading the book now and this family is crazy, lmao. There was so much infighting, I'm not surprised she's mad, seems typical :laughga:

Like one of Aldo's sons (the one played by Jared Leto) turned his father in for tax evasion and Aldo went to jail for it :smh:

When I was reading the wiki or whatever, I thought that was one of the wilder aspects - he completely turned on them. I've never been super close to my uncles, and they've totally pissed me off before, but I can't ever imagine ratting them out and putting them in jail over what is essentially $$$$$ :smh: Like, they were elderly too!

I'm hyped for Paolo shenanigans. From everything I've read about him, he reminds me so much of Kiernan Culkin's character from Succession. For example (from this random article I read):

Paolo didn’t work at Gucci anymore, but he still owned a 3.3 percent stake in the company. That gave him the right to attend board meetings and to ask embarrassing questions about the way Aldo had manged Gucci’s finances over the years (and helped himself to millions in company funds). More than one board meeting ended in a physical fight.

Yep, manifesting this!

Bruh, all the points she makes is just a facade. She just wanted money, a slice of profits from royalties or whateve. Trust she will shut up real quick. You gotta know how rich people demands "their" money. I've been around these people enough to understand it.

So her big gripe is that Al freaking Pacino isn't blue eyed and tall? Her father is being portrayed by an icon like Pacino and she's worried about eye color and height?

The fam is obvi cray. And I'm here for it. Makes for great drama.

Did she say she is disappointed because Al Pacino is playing her dad's part? :rip:  who is literally one of the finest actors in Hollywood! :saladga:

I mean, she made a few points. To us, this is just some story, but this was her family's life - she's entitled to her feelings.

Obviously we don't know the direction this movie is going, but I would hope that it doesn't glorify, glamourize, or revise the events and people featured in it for the sake of entertainment.

In Michelle Visage's voice:

It's a Hollywood movie ffs!

If you want the real thing watch the documentary.

Yeah, I can see that. But I had to lol @ "he was a tall, slender and blue-eyed."

Surely they won't glorify Maurizio or Patrizia. I read a few things on twitter from people who are currently reading the book. One Adam Driver stan keeps mentioning Maurizio's good points, was sweet to his kids, never cheated on Patrizia, was concerned about her when she had that brain tumor, and I was really like, "aww, that's tragic, too bad Patrizia was so awful. :fatcat: " Then I was reading this other person's takes and excerpts from the book and apparently Maurizio choked Patrizia during Christmas once and it terrified their daughters (and also cheated on Patrizia with an blonde American girl, gave her his credit card to go shopping all the time etc. while giving his wife a keychain for Christmas). Then I was like, tumblr_pwwrkji8mG1vbdh23o6_250.gifv

I think the truth is definitely complicated and I can see it dredging up some more drama for their family.

I think Patrizia definitely has potential to be unintentionally glorified because she totally fits into the trope of the woman who has the gall to do WTF she wants (but in this case, it's murder). Kind of reminds me of dark Lucille Bluth.

Kind of hope it has the same tone as Succession - that show strikes a balance of making you feel for the characters on some level, but also feeling utter disgust @ their awful behavior.

dark lucille bluth... i love it

this is gonna make gaga even more of a gay icon than she already is... if thats even possible

I feel bad because she's awful, but Patrizia is such a character. It's like she stepped out of a dark comedy. Like...

And:

“Patrizia, why did you hire a hitman to kill Maurizio Gucci? Why didn’t you shoot him yourself?” badgered the reporter.

“My eyesight is not so good,” she lobbed back. “I didn’t want to miss.”

And I thought this exchange was very Lucille tbh:

“That’s a lovely dress,” I say to break the ice. “It’s Zara. I don’t earn enough at this place to buy proper clothes,” she replies, throwing a disgruntled look at her hovering employers.

:smh: They got to include stuff like this in the movie (not the exact stuff, but tonally they got to get her personality in there).
