I'm just pointing out that we don't need to categorize people into groups and make prejudices. I’m not generalizing though, I’m pointing out an actual fact that has been recorded since 1982. White men are the main perpetrators when it comes to mass shootings. White men are so disproportionately more dangerous in the context of mass shootings that it’s terrifying. When I go out in public to festivals or large places, the people I watch for are white men. There’s a reason for that.

March34th 1,973
Just now, lestyoufall said: Actually you can, it’s called individual racism meaning on a person to person basis. What you’re describing is institutionalized racism which you’re correct, white people in America can’t experience that. white people have never been oppressed in history based on their skin colour or race, but every other race has - by whites. You can be rude to a white person based on their race, which I will grant does happen, but it does not compare in the slightest to racism or the sort of oppression, pain, abuse, and hardships experienced by BIPOC. White people have and will never have rights taken away from them based on their race, they will never lose employment based on that, they will never have their rights to vote, live, speak, or love taken from them based on their race. They will never experience generational trauma from things like slavery that many black people are born with. They will never be hate-crimed for speaking their native language because they're seen as "other". Almost every single non-English speaking, non-white country in the world has been forced to adopt white/American culture and customs because of racism. So much has been stolen and appropriated from non-whites by whites and so much has been done against BIPOC. That is racism. A white person being called out being racist is not racism against whites. White people do not experience racism based on being white, ever. Stop trying to twist it. So many white people want to be oppressed so damn bad and it's getting weird. It's not something you want. You should really educate yourself on the levels of racism because it isn’t just one thing like you’re describing. You are literally talking about structural racism. There’s more to it than just that. Here’s a link to help get you started so next time you won’t embarrass yourself. I also recommend taking a valuing diversity class & even a few history classes to expand your definition & view so you understand better. also I’m literally the one calling out white men, start from the beginning of the thread & look at the facts I posted before quoting you. Seriously, expand your horizons. This is embarrassing. https://www.cacgrants.org/assets/ce/Documents/2019/FourLevelsOfRacism.pdf

caulixtla 2,170
This particular shooting, based on the perpetrator’s statements, was not motivated by racism as much as it was motivated by hatred against sex workers. Quite frankly, sex workers are too marginalized in our society. While I myself live by a code of conduct which does not include utilizing the services of sex workers, I do not think we should marginalize them by making their work illegal. Yeah, it can be degrading work, but working as a waitress at a restaurant can also be very degrading—the pay is low, and our society allows people to verbally berate and be abusive towards customer service workers, who will get fired if they give any push back at all—so there’s no reason to make sex work illegal because it’s degrading. Indeed, by making sex work legal, we make the work less degrading by giving sex workers legal protections when customers cross the line (such as insisting on unprotected sex, or being physically abusive to sex workers). Now, there was an institutionalized racism element here because it is often women of another race who end up working as female sex workers for male clients. And there are cultural elements here, where our culture both shames sexuality and at the same time creates a BS narrative that a “real man” has a lot of sexual partners. Point being, legalize prostitution and stop marginalizing sex workers. Edit: Let me make something crystal clear. Sex work should only be legalized if we have very strong safeguards to make all sex work consensual (i.e. high minimum wage so people can get a reasonable wage working a service job, and do not get economically forced in to sex work.) I understand that you later acknowledged that there was an element of institutionalized racism here, but to say this incident was not motivated by racism is not true imo. To target these three spas which are known to be Asian owned businesses is enough to take this seriously as a racially charged crime. He obviously associated these spas with sex work so it’s not crazy to say he’s been to these businesses before. This crime was premeditated, he knew the workers there were mostly Asian, and he decided to murder them. We need to call this crime what it is - terrorism against the Asian community and the sex worker community. To call it anything less is a dismissal of the pain that both of these communities are feeling. I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas. ShayCristoforo 10,607
Did you see what the authorities said about him having a "bad day"? This is part of the reason why minorities are so tired. When a white guy terrorizes, it's just a "bad day". So let's get it straight... Every single time you piss off non-white people, you're gonna hear about it. We will let you know, immediately. Gone are the days when white privilege just carries on, unchallenged. They're saying that his sex addiction triggered the attack, vs. racial motives. Most of these victims were Asian women. Even though cop dumbo and sergeant humpty dumpty take the word of a disturbed white terrorist, you can't pull the wool over our eyes. There is at least an implicit demographic, if not explicit. This is called a trend. Let's ask why he pointed the gun at a mostly-Asian setting, instead of just pointing it at himself. Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time. smokeandhush 992
Gagadaily is mostly white gays so topics like this are always unproductive. People seem to believe in reverse racism here. Sister 9,907
RIP to the victims This guy was a spree murderer/ serial killer, after this tragedy he was caught on his way to Florida to commit more murders at massage parlors against women / under the counter sex workers and there are many of these places in Florida. So far, it's being reported that he is a known woman hating and violent sex addict and frequented these sort of places. Scary. Someone must have known this monster had been raging about lately, before he acted on it. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

I dont think we need another one of those threads with 5 pages where the entite point is lost and whole focus is on debating the technical definition of a word even tho everyone in the debate knows full well what the other person is saying in principal @lestyoufall the word racism in a technical basis refers to a systemic kind of opression based on race so by that definition white people cant experience true racism in the western world and ppl get kind of triggered if u dont use that word correctly @March34th but clearly he meant racial prejudice the fact that he didnt use the word in the correctly technical mannor i dont think prevented u from understanding his point in principal Can we leave it at that? Or in another 5 pages yall still gonna go back and fourth agreeing woth eachother in principal but arguing about a words technical application
