Honestly, there are shootings that happen like this all the time. It's just that there were 8 people killed and they seem to be connected. Large cities unfortunately have people shot frequently. It's a sad reality.

Also, I have to say one positive thing with covid is that there have been no major mass shootings or school shootings because everyone has been at home. Which is also sad to think about.

Edit: I’m rescinding my comment until I learn more about the situation.

I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.

It looks like it may have been an attack against Asians, specifically Asian women:

Ugh. I love my country and value everyone who works hard to keep America evolving- but these home grown terrorists are bred in hatred/mental illness and paranoia.  It isn’t until after the fact that people are killed, that family members of the shooters say they saw the signs. It seems to be an endless cycle and I’m not sure how we fix it.

I get so triggered when I see gun shootings like these. Is there no peace on earth anymore? Do we have to live in fear everyday?

A man captured in Georgia on Tuesday night is suspected in three shootings at Atlanta-area massage parlors that killed eight people, officials said.

Four people were killed in Cherokee County, north of Atlanta, around 5 p.m. and four died in two shootings at spas in Atlanta shortly less than an hour later, authorities said.

Officials have not disclosed a suspected motive.

Robert Aaron Long, 21, was arrested in Crisp County, Cherokee County sheriff's Capt. Jay Baker said.

Atlanta police said Tuesday night that the suspect in the city's two shootings is likely the same as Cherokee County's and said that an investigator was working to confirm that the cases are related.

The four women who were killed in Atlanta appeared to be Asian, police said. No identifying information has been released about the Cherokee County victims.

Cherokee County sheriff's deputies discovered two people dead at the massage parlor, and three others who were injured late Tuesday afternoon, Baker said. The injured were taken to a hospital, where two later died. One person remains hospitalized.

About 45 minutes later and 30 miles away, police in Atlanta responded to a report of a robbery on Piedmont Road in the northeast part of the city.

Officials discovered three women dead from apparent gunshot wounds, and while on scene, received a call of shots fired across the street, where a woman was found dead inside that business, Atlanta police said.

Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant described one location as a spa, and another as an aromatherapy spa.

That's a sad worldwide reality but as you said they seem to be connected which makes it even more troublesome.

Mental health support when these people are younger (this includes access and families accepting the support, some families won't give permission for the supports when they are there). They don't develop these things overnight. I have several former students in prison (I also have some that are doing really well), one for murder even, and the signs were there even in elementary school.

They really need to do something! I just can't believe this keeps happening and nobody does anything to control the situation :fatcat:

It's really scary... Like, you can be buying something on a grocery store before work and then all of a sudden you're dead :selena:

Definitely a racist attack. All of the victims were of Asian descent. TERRIBLE.
