To me she will always be a talented and hard working individual but also the one who snatched so many ideas from those less fortunate artists that have no media exposure or are from third world countries, the woman who had 30 co-writers on one song, walking marketing, someone who never actually stood for something unless something was gained from it and so on...

Lana for ex has zero grammys even tho she’s white (if thats your merit), and she has provided us with pure poetry for almost 10 years.

Beyoncé has my respect for her immense talents in singing, dancing, and putting on fantastic performances in general. But not really writing most of her own material is a negative for me. That’s just my opinion though, not everyone’s gonna feel the same way. Taylor Swift isn’t much of a singer or performer but her writing is wonderful. This is coming from someone who doesn’t even like her last 3 albums lol

I swear every time I check a thread on here about any successful black woman, yall just tear them down. Also I get that Beyoncé doesn’t write her songs but many other artists don’t either but when it comes to Beyoncé that’s all you guys point out. I don't know how a negative was possibly spun from her breaking the record for the most wins for a female artist. Why are her fans still not happy with this immense achievement and still want Beyonce to be seen as somehow underrated and undervalued even though she won 4 awards in one night when she didn't even have an album out and broke a record for most wins for a female the same night (and is 4 wins away from breaking the all-time record and 2 nominations away from breaking the all-time nomination record)? This is the exact opposite of underrated and undervalued. What more do her fans possibly want at this stage? Winning many awards but failing to win in the general field is not an issue unique to Beyonce. And hip hop/RnB artists have always struggled to win AOTY probably because this award is where everyone votes and these genres can focus in on very specific tastes and don't always encapsulate the tastes of many like pop or acoustic folk can, for example. I think Eminem's been nominated as many times as her for best album and never won so it's not like only white rappers get accolades over black ones either. Everyone gets put into a box at the Grammys. Beyonce on the contrary actually managed to get some cross-genre nominations for Lemonade (Don't Hurt Yourself was nominated under the rock category remember?) so she's not put into a box as much as most. It's just one of those things. I'd rather Gaga never won in general field but became the most decorated female of all time. A bit of gratitude wouldn't go amiss.

Most artists who don't write their own songs don't win Grammys, though. The only exception I can think of is Britney's sole Grammy for Womanizer (sorry, Toxic, made a mistake!) and some Rihanna wins. And of course, a lot of singers from the pre-70's era, when singers sang and writers wrote for them. But things are different now. I can't remember the last time a singer who was notable for not writing their own material not only won an award but won big. The Grammys favour songwriters, this has been proven over and over, particularly when it comes to who wins AOTY. That's why the super-produced mainstream pop albums that have a whole host of credits rarely ever win. This was also offered up as a potential reason why Lemonade didn't win as we're well aware by now that Beyonce uses songwriting camps and is known to change one word of a song to get writing credits or even gets credit from putting in some riffing or ad-libs. That certainly doth not a songwriter make and it doesn't win much respect from music experts. Which is why her list of wins is quite extraordinary in this day and age and we wonder why she's the one big exception to the rule.
