I just cant believe she actually released Medellin as the first single! Like what was she thinking

Bio 23,538
The argument that "Madonna created trends and started following them in Hard Candy" is so wrong it's actually funny. Madonna has ALWAYS stolen from smaller artists and underground cultures. She's lucky there was no internet at the time.
KURUSHITOVSKA 20,451
Do we compare Cher's Heart of Stone or Love Hurts with the atrocious Closer To The Truth? ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula?
27monster27 12,988
NOTE: This is all my opinion. Obviously we should respect the artists ideas first, but these are my ideal sounds for Hard Candy, a suggestion for MDNA, and Rebel Heart. This is what Hard Candy should have sounded like: I actually like MDNA lol, but maybe more sounds like these two: Rebel Heart should have sounded like this (not working with indie EDM producers was a big missed opportunity): he/him/his

She put vogue on the mainstream and used all the pioneers of the scene. She turned photographers into video directors. Clearly you’re not a fan. We get it. But trust she created trends. She’s AN icon.
Anderson123 38,179
When you are the Queen of Pop, you can take a moment to just make music for fun. I don't think she cares about "Pushing the envelope" anymore when she has done this not once or twice, but several times. She could've ended her career with all of the things she has done. She did all of this so the current popstars would be where they are today. I think Madame X is one of her most interesting projects in years but it's getting a lot of hate right now, just like American Life did. Time will tell where it stands. shoful 13,304
I came in here to stan the hell out of Madame X!!! How can anyone say she sold out or isn’t herself when she out out the masterpiece that is Madame X!! THE VISUALS. PRODUCTIONS. ALTER EGO. LYRICS. MIRWAIS AND M MAGIC. It still slays me everyday. That’s legit pure Madonna. If anything COADF sonically is more of a sellout But agreed MDNA is absolute trash! Hard Candy has some good songs and Rebel Heart was a big step up from that unlistenable MDNA "My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..." JusKeepBreathin 19,311
Madonna is amazing but your only as good as your collaborators. I mean, Timberland and Timberlake have never written a masterpiece even tho Timberland is one of the best producers ever. Lyrics aren't his thing. That's why Hard Candy sonically was pretty great for it's time to me it just felt. Empty. Also she had gone through her divorce like not even two years before so she probably used it as a fun distraction. IMO The same thing with MDNA. There was so much filler with meh coloaborators and then those meh songs were chosen as the singles. But the songs she did with Orbit were much better written than the rest of the album. Too bad she seemed so mad and dark in the album. I think she thrives with dark lyrics on much more pop produced tracks but she went in on EDM and it wasn't great with a couple of exceptions. I happen to love Rebel Heart I think she went back to her roots of catchy lyrics on some songs with deeper lyrics on others and a great sound through the entire album. I know I talked shít when it first came out but honestly it's a great album. And Madame X to me was a return to everything you described to that you miss from her. Aphasic 4,033
She's been a victim of herself and the need to continue with this public persona. Something that others learnt to use smartly. Madonna is Madonna's own victim.
ThisGuyTony 30,140
Her albums after COADF didn’t seem like they had a story or a purpose. It was like throwing a bunch of recorded songs on a record and releasing it. But in a way she was still pushing the envelope with the MDNA and Rebel Heart eras, which she has done her whole career. The media would call her “old” and say that she should stop “acting like a younger pop star.” Plus the MDNA Tour had its fair of controversies (nipples, Obama endorsement, guns, etc). The worst thing to come out of those eras was definitely the LMFAO and Nicki collaborations. My biggest complaint for her albums this decade is her vocals. There is way too much auto tune (whether it was an artistic choice I’m not sure) that she sounds robotic and unrecognizable.

808Dream 106
Ray Of Light is a great album, but confessions is even better, she was able to celebrate the no-stop disco album of the 70s and be modern at the same time, great production, great melodies and great lyrics, which is very hard to find in mainly dance album. I did not enjoy as much Madame x and Rebel Heart.
