Patrizia Reggiani fumes at Gaga; "she didn't have sensitivity to meet me"

Highly doubt this was Gaga's decision to make. Ridley wants the character portrayed in a certain way. He's prepared her well for it. If he felt that Gaga meeting w/ Patrizia was integral to the way he wants it portrayed, he would have set that up for them. If he felt that would harm his vision or portrayal, or not add any value, he would have discouraged it. Gaga trusts the vision of the Directors she works with and will ultimately follow their wishes and vision.

If she said I'm too ugly to be cast as her, I would not meet with her either lol no matter how her tune changes

My mom joked that Gaga was miscast because she’s much more beautiful than Patrizia :air:

but as a sidenote I guess that means the film is getting some promo already lol.

Hmm okay Patrizia let's ask why Adam Driver didn't meet up with Maurizio either :yennefer: oh yeah cuz YOU HAD HIM KILLED.

How entitled this woman is! Horrible person, be grateful you're even out of prison for your crime, let alone trying to hobnob with some of the biggest celebs of today.

I'll be very honest, that's a dumb decision to play such a complex role (expecially someone who is still alive and ready to help making the role even deeper) and refuse any meeting.

Ok she's a murderer and horrible woman blablabla. But Lady Gaga accepted to play her so I don't see any problem in any meeting to make some depth to her character.

A lot of amazing actors are preparing a lot their roles (some heavy field researches, meetings and so on).

Did she REFUSE to meet her? Or it just wasn't set up? I don't speak Italian, so I have no idea what was said that was not translated. In any case, as most people have said, it's not a requirement. Saying she made a "dumb decision" just doesn't seem correct here. Maybe nobody felt it was necessary for them to meet personally.

I mean, if the movie itself comes from a POV that assumes Patrizia as guilty... what did you expect would happen? Get her side of the story? This ain't no documentary or news report. It's a movie based on a book.

Have to say, this is expected, though. Playing real-life characters that are still alive can be tricky business.

The film isn't about Patrizia the person. It's the story of what happened to this family. It's quite strange that you think sitting down with an unrepentant convicted murderer is even appropriate. She's not trying to pay homage to this person - she's playing a character in a script.

It’s a MURDERER???????????????!

Y’all are... something else. I’ll leave it at that.

I mean, I'm with you... people are really stupid.

Do you think actors talk to every murderer they portray or they simply do research and study them? Murderer are narcisistic people, what kind of discussion do you think would come out of it?

She needs Patrizia's approval to portray her? Of course not
Patrizia may not agree on the way they portray her? Honestly... Who cares?

I think gaga should’ve agreed to a meeting. When playing such complex caracter every chance to know more about them is gold. But on the other hand, Patrizia wasn’t happy abou the movie since the beginning nor even wanted gaga to portrait her anyway.

It's not written. Actors are not robots. Writers must limit the amount of instructions they give to actors, because that's not their job. Do you think Meryl Streep when playing Margaret Thatcher just did what was written? Nope. She clearly studied everything about Thatcher. And Thatcher was the one who refused to meet Meryl. But in this case, Patrizia wanted to meet Gaga. She lost a great opportunity.

Did you just compare Margaret Thatcher to a convicted criminal :lmao:

I don't get what positive thing could Gaga or the movie gain by talking with her. It's not an inspiring and truthful biography about some important figure.. it's a movie a woman that killed her husband and created a scandal. It's not even about her story, this story is public domain.

I know... This is getting out of hand, really! :messga:

Do you think Anthony Hopkins sat down with a real cannibal to better understand what motivates them to eatin order to portray Hannibal? How stupid can you be to think this "conversation" could have helped Gaga?

Just because someone did something terrible, cruel and criminal, doesn’t mean that person had no personality beyond the stereotype. And that’s key while playing those kind of characters. But that’s just my opinion as a viewer and lover of real crime doc/fictional movies.

So just don't take the role, I guess ?

To me refusing that oppotunity just means 'ok I'll give you my view of how she is, not the accurate one'

That's evidently what they want. They can't consult with Maurizio either so their vision is the one their going full force with.

I mean probably because Patrizia wants to maintain her innocence and no doubt Gaga will play her as guilty :bear:

What kind of awkward conversation are you supposed to have about it....

but since she is maintaining her innocence and Gaga is supposed to portray her, wouldn’t that also be how Gaga is meant to portray her?
