Look, I love your optimism, I really do. But let me be very clear: if the D's in DC don't start being cut throat like the R's were for the last couple years, you can kiss another D presidency goodbye in 2024. If you sit on your laurels and give them little doggy treats every time they do the bare minimum (like this bill) we are going to have another disastrous election outcome like Trump and Hilary in '16.

The Democrats are going to have to get tough and stop trying to work together with the Republican bullies. They also need to stop trying to quash the progressive voices in their party in an attempt to cater to moderates. Moderate Dems are pretty much Republican-lite at this point and would be considered right wing in most other countries. The Republican Party has completely gone off the deep end in trying to cater to fascist alt-right white nationalist groups, and Democrats need to stop trying to "play nice" and get serious about getting stuff done.

The American political system is like a reality show to the rest of the world tbh. The big massive campaign rallies, all the money that goes in to it, everything is a spectacle. It's weird.

I'm not denying that. What I'm saying is that that's basically all of politics, no matter where you go.

It's really not though.

British politics is a **** show of **** ups and controversies but it's nothing compared to the ridiculousness of America.

This bill is nothing close to the bare minimum. The minimum wage is barely related to immediate covid relief and would be much more appropriate in another package.

Im not necessarily optimistic, but you’re definitely pessimistic as all hell and obvi pushing some anti Democratic agenda here

Dems are right wingers in every other western country, our "radical" left in the US is considered center in the rest of the developed world. If Americans knew what conservatives in other western countries supported they'd have a heart attack.

It was never going to pass any sooner, passing things through budget reconciliation takes a lot of time vs a regular bill because the required process is much more complicated and time consuming, especially for legislation this large.

I want $15 minimum as much as anyone here (even more because that's still not the cost of living), but we knew since the first few weeks that the minimum wage was probably not gonna pass in the stim package. Dems need to fight and fight hard, but we need to continue to put pressure on dems who want to act "moderate" to give up the charades.

You guys act like passing a 1.9 trillion dollar bill happens over night. Not to mention the impeachment trials and other legislature acts that have been put into motion since Biden took office.

I'm not saying that they're all on the same level. I'm saying that politics, in general, is a shitshow.

I mean, America is ****ed up in a lot of ways. And let me just emphasize, in a lot of ways, but I also feel like people tend to exaggerate some stuff. I'm all for criticizing politicians and politics in general, but I also think people need to learn a bit about perspective.

Should have been passed weeks ago but at least its something. Nearly two months after Joe took office and I'm still waiting for that instant out-the-door 2,000 check I was promised 🤣

i’m not even gonna get it / haven’t gotten the 600 because i didn’t do my taxes for 2019; kind of jumped around and one of the places i worked didn’t send me my w2 and i literally went there asking for it like 6 separate times 😣 so damn annoying

I feel you! I still have not gotten the $600 and at this point I doubt I will; the status dashboard has not been updated in weeks :saladga:

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

If I was this mediocre at my job after nearly 90 days, I'd be let go. I expect the same from the leaders I vote for. At what point does "its only been 3 months" turn into "its only been one year" then "it'll be better in the second part of the term"? You can't keep moving the goalposts because they are Dems. Hold them accountable, stop licking their boots.

Except running a country i little more difficult than a normal job
