James Molinaro is unintentionally correct in his assessment that Lady Gaga is a slut.

Lady Gaga recently smoked a joint on stage during a concert in Amsterdam -- which makes her a "slut," according to Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro.

"To me, she's not an actress, she is a slut in the pure, in the pure meaning of the word," the BP said last night at an event kicking off one of his anti-d--g programs (see video here).

So, not only is Gaga a "slut," she's a slut in the "pure meaning of the word," which technically makes Molinaro right. Granted, he's still an asshole, but his being a linguistic purist technically makes him unintentionally correct in his assessment of Gaga.

The contemporary meaning of the word "slut" typically is used to describe someone who has indiscriminate s-x with several, several people. But if Molinaro wants to get pure, let's get pure -- by examining the etymology of the word.

The word "slut" dates back to the early 1400s, when it was used to describe someone -- male or female -- who was "dirty or slovenly."

Let's focus on "slovenly" -- "dirty" tends to be slightly more subjective/offensive when discussing the appearance of an actual human being.

"Slovenly," according to dictionaries, means "careless; excessively casual."

We'll dive even further down Molinaro's purist rabbit hole and define "casual" as "feeling or showing little concern."

Now, Lady Gaga has made a career out of pretending to not give a **** about what other people think. Her single "Born This Way" is described as dealing with "self-acceptance regardless of race or s-xual orientation."

In other words, Lady Gaga has made it clear that she shows "little concern" if some asshole like Molinaro -- or anyone else -- thinks she's a slut. And that's because she's comfortable with who she is. Thus, she's "casual," and -- in the pure form of the word -- a slut.

Again, technically Molinaro's correct in his assessment that Gaga's a "slut" in the "pure meaning of the word." But he's still an asshole, which is defined as a "stupid, incompetent, or detestable person" -- in the "pure form of the word," of course.

I agree--the word slut should be revolutionized. If "slut" no longer means what it did in HIS day, why should slut mean what it means today? We can strip and reconstruct the title. What ever happened to "free love"? I miss the 60's and 70's (even though I never lived back then). :cry:
