Pushing it through with 50 +1 would give power to the Republicans to do the same. Please tell me you think Bernie was sure ten Republicans would overrule with the weak attempt at media coverage. In 1967, VP Hubert Humphrey disregarded the Parliamentarain's advice, and did so again in 1969. Then, in 1975 VP Nelson Rockefeller partnered with future VP Walter Mondale to refute the Parliamentarain. There is already precedent to do so, and it is more than possible for VP Kamala Harris to do that here. The only question is whether she has the courage and audacity to do so. These are just facts. Look it up and get with the program sis. Stop bending over backwards defending these corporate hacks, because it's super embarrassing and only exhibits your own complacency with the system and disregard for what Americans overwhelmingly want and VOTED FOR in electing Joe Biden. They didn't get him elected only for him and Harris to turn around and say their needs don't matter and that an unelected Parliamentarain's ADVICE matters more than their lives and fulfilling his promises to his voters. Then y'all wonder why people can't stand politics and politicians and why Dems get such a bad rep

Manchin would have never voted with us Harris most likely didn't want to push it through to show a splintered party with our first major bill. But thanks to Bernadette, now it looks splintered. Keep up girl. That was why I wrote my first comment on this thread in the first place. Blame Harris all you want, it doesn't change the fact that it wasn't going to happen thanks to Manchin and that other crazy senator. Therefore this ridiculous farfetched attempt by Bernie was and is only good to rile up far left and nothing more. Because it would have FORCED these ridiculous Senators to choose if they really were going to DENY the American people this necessary need all over this one issue, and put them on the record for that. That's what it's all about, pressuring them and seeing how it shakes out and putting them on the record when they vote the wrong way so they can be held accountable. It's hilarious to me you're blaming Bernie when he's the one actually sticking up for American workers and fighting for promises made by Dems, including Biden and Harris. People aren’t thinking in Republican attack ads sounding bad like “he didjt get 2k to 12M people” and so why even let that narrative be correct. I don’t think Manchin ever said he wouldn’t vote for the bill bc it’s not as targeted as he’d like, I just remember him complaining about it, and he said he’d not vote bc of the minimum wage. He got his way but the wage was removed so it’s one of those moments where it’s like ??? congrats you shaved an unnoticeable portion of the bill 👏

No leader in the democratic party has said minimum wage is "officially dead." It's a click bait thread with a bunch of meltdowns from the far left. Someone even mentioned "babies starving." As if $15 an hour is going to somehow end unemployment. But you know what will help the unemployed, this bill. The bill will extend pandemic unemployment benefits, and also raise weekly federal unemployment payments from $300 to $400. The most important thing to you guys is raising the minimum wage to $9 and some cents an hour. Because that will surely keep babies from "starving." Also, it covers 17 year olds, which the last supplement didn’t for some odd reason. Also, the child tax benefit will help children in lower class families. There is much more in this bill that will actually go to working families, working people and small businesses. But, yeah, some individuals that make 80k plus a year aren’t going to get three or four hundred dollars. Money and benefits going to more lower/working class people will make a bigger difference to those in need.

That’s what this stimulus bill is doing...helping people feed their babies. The stimulus package would: -Extend the 15 percent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit increase.Maintaining the increase through the summer – when childhood hunger spikes due to a lack of school meals – is a critical backstop against rising food insecurity. This change will help keep hunger at bay for around 40 million Americans. The president is calling for this to be extended through September 2021. He is also committed to providing this boost for as long as the COVID-19 crisis continues, and will work with Congress on ways to automatically adjust the length and amount of relief depending on health and economic conditions so future legislative delay doesn’t undermine the recovery and families’ access to benefits they need. -Invest $3 billion to help women, infants and children get the food they need. This multi-year investment in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is needed to account for increased enrollment due to growing hunger and to increase outreach to ensure that low-income families have access to high-quality nutritious food and nutrition education. -Partner with restaurants to feed American families and keep restaurant workers on the job at the same time. The FEMA Empowering Essential Deliveries (FEED) Actwill leverage the resources and expertise of the restaurant industry to help get food to families who need it, and help get laid-off restaurant workers across the country back on the job. -Support SNAP by temporarily cutting the state match. The president is calling for a one time emergency infusion of administrative support for state anti-hunger and nutrition programs to ensure that benefits get to the kids and families that need it most. -Provide U.S. Territories with $1 billion in additional nutrition assistance for their residents. Bolstering the Nutrition Assistance Program block grant will help thousands of working families in Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands put food on the table for the duration of the pandemic. Um, not a clickbait thread, and certainly not written by a member of the far left... I don't see a path to 60 votes in a 50-50 Senate, this was likely their last opportunity to raise it to $15. I think there's a good chance that the Senate passes an increase closer to $11/hr, but if the House is willing to go below $15 remains to be seen (I doubt that AOC, for example, would be pleased).
