Just had morning call with my man, he said wifi is down now in his hotel. So I asked him to keep me updated by call or texts, and suggests him to recharge his phone and battery packs since some cities in the state already experiencing blackout

We just had an ice storm here in NC but nothing like what TX is having. I hope everyone in the area stays safe. We were without power for about 24 hours and still don’t have internet back. 
 

If you live in TX - make sure to keep your phone charged, have a flashlight handy, and fill your tub with water (or other containers) so you can flush your toilet.

We’re covered in snow rn. Seeing sunlight for the first time since Friday and it just seems so odd  they’re doing rolling blackouts to conserve energy and the house is freezing rn. Never thought I’d deal with this in San Antonio

Freezing rain and snow without winter tires? Good luck texas!! There a big car crashes like that in canada when there is freezing rain and we are used to these conditions, it must be scary when you’re not prepared and/or used to it!

Same here sis! I’m in north San Antonio, and even though it’s sunlight it’s still below freezing so the sun won’t do anything to melt the snow. Our power keeps going on/off every 20 minutes for the rolling outages I just want to make breakfast

Not to mention cities don’t have any road salters or snow dozers so they’re just shutting down major roads and highways. They’re doing rotating power outages because the state doesn’t have enough power to power everyone due to the increased electricity demand and over half of the wind turbines that help power the state have been frozen in place due to the snow.

That + people having to heat their homes. Wind turbines can be outfitted to be in temps as cold as -30C but there’s no need to do that in Texas when it’s warm year round  it hasn’t snowed this hard in San Antonio since the 80s apparently.

They said they turned off literally everything that‘s “non-critical” and demand is still exceeding supply. Excuse me? Make it make sense. Something else clearly broke or failed here and I can’t wait to find out what. They saw an opportunity to blame wind but I don’t buy it for a second.

 

I’m at 12 hours without power so far, and don’t expect any for another 24 hours at the earliest. Getting to single digits tonight.

The latest of my man update was the power back after 5 hours out in hotel he stay in.
