Vicixs 3,395
I think she very much pushed the boundaries with this album. Maybe not sonically, but definitely lyrically. She stopped focusing on metaphors and symbolism to portray her thoughts and emotions. She, instead, chose to be up front an honest. Instead of songs about loving someone that’s bad for them (Judas) or singing about pop stardom (Bloody Mary) she instead chose to sing about how she has literal trauma constantly going through her head (Replay) and how she is her biggest problem (Fun Tonight). I think it all subjective IMO Religion is a product to sell.
RAMROD 106,071
I am dissatisfied with this era as many of you did. But I won't go as far as saying she is forced to record this album tho He’s not offending anyone and SOME of you always give shady and unpleasant answers, like you defend Gaga from her fans themselves. I know, saying “forced” can be exagerated, but you could also just accept the fact that someone noticed stuff and wants to talk about it. There’s no need in commenting like this even if you disagree. I was not on this site for a bit... but everytime I comeback I start feeling sad and anxious. People around us are mean already... there’s really no need. Lol literally its been a nonstop negativity storm towards gaga since she originally delayed the album. But go off defending ops right to say “i liked her music so little that I think shes literally being forced to make music she doesnt want” you all bitch and complain that you didnt get music you liked and she went and tried to do that. You still didnt like it so now the cognitive dissonance in your head has to find a way to make it not her fault that you didn’t like the music. And another post on this thread you said that it wasn’t experimental enough. She has not pushed any boundaries with her music since literally I genuinely can’t think Of ever she has always been a relatively within the lines popstar I don’t know why you think you’re stanning Bjork
Juanlittlem 42,948
If they wanted to capitalize off of ASIB's success the would have released something similar to that + earlier than 2 years later. Estàvem al cel, ara estem a l'infern

alsemanche 92,250
Then why did she have the biggest album rollout planned for it before the pandemic hit? Soft, soothing, and succulent

[image removed] #delusional I said with her music as in addressing the persons original point in saying “the instrumentals were basic and not experimental or boundary pushing” swine had a drop that was more than usual in music at that point. Paparazzi is a great song but not boundary pushing. you literally tried to find something to nitpick something i said about a completely different point since you know im right and you picked the wrong thing lol. saying gaga isnt musically boundary pushing isnt saying she didnt make good music or push boundaries in her performances. Girl, WHAT? are you aware that this is her most critically acclaimed album? Are you really basing the reception of the album off of the edgy "i'm not like THOSE queers" queers who said it was bad because it didn't have pots and pans? I was following your take until this... very clear bias from your part chaeri pls

Nathaniel Arven 1,636
Musically, I've got so much things to say I can't quite see how not to make a list. the album may seem very classical, it has it's own sound (reverb work make it so unique). She even indulged into classical music. And lyrically, she made the choice to be very honest. It's like a sci-fi diary, very cinematographic. When I put on Chromatica, I picture the land that she presented us. When I dance my pain out through the whole experience, I am in this place with deserts, sci-fi cities, mystic places. I see the colors of Chromatica. It's more than ever all in my head. The visual are mainly here to deploy a background, that reinforces the experience. The whole album is like breathing the air of Chromatica. And I can't see her not sitting down at the table at some point and thinking about that, with all her passion and creative friends. We must not be distracted by the fact that this beautiful record is the first electronic dance record in 7 years. Those expectations are not helping opening up to the record and that is not bad. Because we are fans. It's just a bias. Spoiler So : I disagree.
ANTI WP 19,799
At least the album is FIRE and critically acclaimed. You want her to push boundaries ??? constantly ??? Us Lms know damn well she is struggling ( idk whether it is true or not )... like I get it we are disappointed... but most of you selfishs constantly bashing her for no reason. its not cool man ... yall need to stream Plastic doll. Us little monsters needs to let the era go.
elijahfan 25,326
You guys need to understand that she's not a hungry 20-something beginner anymore... She's a grown-ass 34 year-old woman living in a villa in Hollywood with a legacy to protect, so her priorities are obviously not the same. Hearing interviews about Chromatica, I have to admit it does feel like they had to extract this record out of her and that it's very much BloodPop's baby... she didn't even bother with a producer credit on the main songs this time around. But to me, it's still very much her and it's a really solid and fresh record, albeit not revolutionary. The lyrics are extremely personal and address head-on her mental health issues for arguably the first time, making the message as relevant as BTW's or ARTPOP's imo. I admit I kinda wanted it to be more experimental or boundary-pushing on a sonic level (still gutted we most likely will never get to hear the SOPHIE tracks). But saying she never really had faith in it is a bit unfair, as it was obviously gearing up to be a massive era until Covid hit. I believe this is very much a classic Gaga record and that her fingerprints are all over it, but the way she's making music has changed. Creativity isn't something you can control. 10 years ago it feels like she was writing songs all the time and the eras naturally evolved and overlapped with one another, like a continuous artistic stream. Now, she has to go back into a certain mindset during one specific time period and really put her mind to writing and writing only, and get out on the other side with a record. As a creative myself, it's kinda the way I work: I get ideas all the time, but I really need to shut myself off for a while and focus on this one thing if I'm willing to get anything done. So that may be frustrating for us fans as it makes new music releases more sparse and uncertain, but it doesn't mean she's lost her touch or her drive. Wait for a proper pop era rollout in her 30s before judging her.
