Gaga Was Forced To Make Chromatica

I'm tired and I'm not reading all of that, sorry, but if she was really forced to make that album, she still managed to make a damn good one. It's my favorite Gaga album, and I absolutely love the sound, it has a very 90s feel to it and as a 90s kid it's everything I could ask for in a Gaga album.

Funny how fans always portray Gaga as one of the most powerful woman on the planet, and yet she is always pressured into doing something, does something against her will, forced to do this or that.... :deadbanana: So which is it? Is she a powerful woman or an industry puppet? Make up your minds already.

She’s a powerful woman obviously, but do you expect an entire forum to have the exact same conception of Gaga?

Guys these are some facts and there are opinions. He’s not offending anyone and SOME of you always give shady and unpleasant answers, like you defend Gaga from her fans themselves.

I know, saying “forced” can be exagerated, but you could also just accept the fact that someone noticed stuff and wants to talk about it. There’s no need in commenting like this even if you disagree.

I was not on this site for a bit... but everytime I comeback I start feeling sad and anxious. People around us are mean already... there’s really no need.

I've noticed the same people describing both scenarios.

The first Gaga album I felt that Stefani was playing the lead roll of Lady Gaga.

@ApplauseftAdele That was very well written and well thought out. I’m sorry people are being incredibly rude about expressing their disagreements. It is a pop forum, they don’t have to read or comment if they don’t want to, but I don’t know why some people take the energy to be snarky about it. Regardless of them, you are well spoken and I do think you have some legitimate points.
in the end, only Gaga knows what’s going on. But it’s human nature to try and fill in the blanks, and that’s what you’re trying to do. Nothing wrong with that.

She probably was PRESSURED to create an album but she was definitely neither forced or pressure to create Chromatica as a concept both sonically or visually.

I find it almost like an insult to say that a woman as creative and vissionary as she is, with that much power in the industry and almost 13 years in the business, is dressing and singing the way some excutives force her to.

Plus, you just don't create a concept like Chromatica just to sell. Most of it is well explained and makes sense, and a concept as complex as this is denifinetily not made for mass consumption. If selling was the intention, then **** the concept, just some cute bops and ballads will do.

And the music is excellent.

It was clear as day she felt obligated to do it (either by the label or management ) with the lyrics being very sad so it wasn’t like she was in the studio in good spirits. She’s an artist and that’s how musicians express themselves through their music so let’s not pretend she wasn’t suffering some sort of emotional pain like all of us do in our lifetime. I hate that fans jump to opposite extremes like  “Gaga hates us and feels obligated to do this, her passion is gone”.

I look at it from an artistic point of view, it really is a shell of former Gaga but that’s the point. Underneath the glitz and glam, she’s suffering and this is a tale as old as time as this is common thing with popstars especially female popstars having to live up to high expectations and be “perfect” We see it happen to Britney Spears. It’s like her version of a obsessions on the dance floor where she exposes her vulnerability set to a dance soundtrack. And that’s why it’s one of her best albums as I was slowly losing interest in her as she did became her own “ARTPOP” where she got lost in her own madness and it’s comforting to know she was going through that. We all go through it it’s just society likes to shame us for feeling that way.

This is getting old. Guess Gaga was forced to make this fandom's beloved ARTPOP, knowing how many drugs she was taking.

As someone who studies music production, chromatica literally makes born this way look like a poorly engineered garbage fire. The beats on chromatica are extremely crisp and have way more depth and momentum to them than most house music does that comes out of other Top 40 artists these days if I’m being honest. Gaga literally has never released a house album and just because most of you associate house music with H&M/generic elevator department store music does not change the fact that it was literally the soundtrack to the clubs that most queer, black electronic musicians worked on during the 80s and early 90s. Gaga always does what people DONT expect of her, so yes, she released a dance album filled with house drops thrown through an experimental filter. Replay is an EXCELLENT use of a sample, Babylon uses a ton of vocal takes from various versions of the song and just comps then together. And while I’m still here making “controversial statements”, Bloodpop is the second most talented producer shes worked with besides SOPHIE. That will be all. Thank you for listening to my stupid opinions 😂

I don't think she hates this album or she was forced to do it. And I also don't think it's a complete downgrade for her creatively because I think she was experimenting even on this record. I just see it as if she kind of took a step back and let the producers lead this record this time around.

To a certain degree yes...even the lack of promo towards the album speaks volumes
