I mean if you got a reason why killing insects and killing humans or other particular animals aren't treated the same that doesn't boil down to certain species being valued more than other species (aka 'speciesism') then go ahead.

This is a complete contradiction. The meat “industry” becoming humane is improbable given the amount of meat eaters in the world. Lab grown meat is probably the most ethical way to eat meat.

Killing any species that does not pose a threat to you is immoral. If you are allergic to an insect and it poses a threat, by all means kill it. But killing a human, animal and even an insect without provocation is immoral to varying degrees.

It's not a contradiction at all. I said, "I wish we could change their practices." Wishful thinking doesn't necessarily apply to reality. I can wish that they had better practices, but understand that they probably won't.

Sorry but I just don't agree. Why would humans put other species' interests before other humans'? I can't believe the west has succeeded in dehumanizing Other people to the point where their plight is equated to that of animals. 

I'm completely for ending animal suffering and finding alternate ways to nourish the planet that aren't cruel, but to do it under the guise of "specieism" and equating it to atrocious things like racism is not gonna fly with me.

Besides, it's not like the natural world sees it that way either. Nature is ****ing brutal. I'm not saying that humans aren't either. For example, the meat industry is just awful. No one is trying to convince you that an ant and a human are worth the same. If anyone is given the choice to kill an ant or a human, they’re going to kill the ant. However, the meat and dairy industry are having to meet the demands of billions of people, so they are set up to produce as much product as possible, at the cost of billions of sentient beings. The way humans are mistreating chickens, cows, pigs, etc. is what is being questioned. It is easy to forget that we evolved from great apes, so I think that’s where they’re coming from, trying to asses the discrepancy of love we attribute to different species with similar sentience. 
 

Also yes, nature is brutal. But humans have built up civilization to a point that this conversation of “Well it happens in nature so it must be okay!” is pointless. (Natural carnivores don’t cook their meat either, so by that standard cooked food must be bad too). We have options available to us that other animals do not have, so continuing to support meat and dairy industries when we don’t have to is a personal choice (a choice I’m not attacking anyone for, just mentioning the difference between humans and natural carnivores). 

I hope this doesn’t come across as combative, I’m just passionate about helping animals and the planet 💖
