I think it's putting personal stuff aside and realising what we need to do for the greater good that is important.

We all have wants and needs that aren't being fulfilled during all of this, it isn't fair for them to break rules just because it's in their nature, whatever that might mean.

We all have the capability to put that aside for now and realise it's only temporary.

But, my point was that risk takers will be risk takers regardless. They always exist among us. Society can’t do anything about that. We may punish and repress all we want, but to some rules are meant to be broken.

Anthropologically, the “archetypal” characters society has fully accepted to imbue these risk taking traits (i.e express these genes) are the hero/warrior, and not surprisingly the artist/genius. Society learned a long time ago that the outsider, the iconoclastic, the ****-stirrer, is as vital, as they are dangerous.

The virus being “temporary”, is not a given. in fact, a couple of days ago, WHO officials have predicted that the “destiny" of the COVID is almost certain to become endemic.  Therefore, permanent. As in forever. And we will need to learn to live with it from here on in.

Suddenly, being a risk taker becomes about more than just “fulfilling wants and needs...during all of this”. It becomes about the vital expression of the human spirit during dark and repressive times. Something gay men historically know all to well. Shockingly well.

Holy hell you are overthinking stuff. Can we stop giving these selfish idiots excuses? Especially ones as insane as this, the mental gymnastics you just performed to explain why a bunch of ravers want to party.

It's got nothing to do with our genes. Or the human spirit (which is nonsense).

It's quite literally just a bunch of sesh heads who couldn't handle a year inside. Not some overly poetic vague mumbo jumbo, you give humans way too much credit.

It's really simple, it's just selfishness however you want to frame it.

Oh but, it’s got everything to do with our genes. Humans are undeniably motivated by self-interest and selfishness, even if it appears to be for the greater good of the group. Every parent will tell you that. You may enjoy reading some Richard Dawkins, he explains it well. That is unless you don’t believe in evolution and genetics,

It’s not insane to want to move your body with others. It’s completely natural. Human. Selfish or otherwise.

Whether it is poetic or not, that’s how you interpret it. Just as one may view what you say as conservative.

I’m not justifying their behaviour, simply saying risk taking is human nature (something you appear to have failed to grasp from the beginning). About which science, anthropology, sociology (and poetry interestingly) has a lot to say. You may want to read up on that too.

Lmao firstly, yes we all have genes and yes they all give us some degree of motivation for our actions but are you seriously just reducing every human to a puppet and saying we have no cognitive ability at all? We quite literally have the most advanced brain on this planet capable of logic and reason which when correctly employed can make us put our base instincts and desires to one side.

Can you stop with all this read 'X to know this' nonsense, I guarantee you a lot of people from those fields are at home doing the right thing.

No one is saying it's not normal to want to move. I discovered I love to dance during this pandemic and all I want is to do it with others but I haven't because I know it's selfish.

There clearly is no convincing you of why you are clearly justifying their behaviour by saying 'they're just humans following some risk-taking bs.' By your logic the legal system would fall apart, as a society we have already accepted that often there is no excuse for not knowing better.

Rapists and paedo's would love this logic that we are just subject to follow what our body tells us and we have no moral responsibility otherwise. Grow up kid.

And you don't realise how stupid you sound telling people to read into these fields. My dude, I went to Uni for Psychology but you don't see me walking around acting like every study of human behaviour is the ultimate guide on human nature. These fields can be flawed, and often don't paint a full picture. We are far more complicated than that and furthermore not everything you read translates into reality. Maybe you'll realise that when you live more.

Edit: Also these people are literally destroying property and fighting with the police, are we about to justify criminal damage and violence on the basis of genetics and evolution too?
