they should’ve gotten a UK artist anyways tbh, no idea why they would invite a non-UK artist

I think if Alicia had sung it as part of her set people wouldn't mind, but it was the fact that she sang it immediately after the midnight fireworks that has riled people up. I'm not usually especially nationalistic, but I actually found it a bit inappropriate tbh.

You're totally right! It was the first song she sung in 2021, so that's what this is all about. She could've sung "This Girl Is On Fire" or something else instead. I was also surprised how bad she sounded...

Didn’t watch this show but Alicia has always had questionable vocals

They should've invited Fergie if they only want a singer from UK. I hate that. Who cares where the singer is coming from and what the singer sings? It's a time to celebrate the end of a year and not a national holiday.

I mean to get worked up about it is kinda petty

HOWEVER for all those comments saying it's just a song... These kind of moments are moments places and communities celebrate and come together

Singing a song about a totally different place and how inspiring that other place is tbh in the moment would be very odd

If I attended a NY party in Toronto or whatched it and am coming together with my community I'm not sure I'd want the defining performance to be about some other city in another Country :toofunny:

That being said, yeah it's not that serious and ppl are getting to worked up as usual. But I do get it to some extent

This is a stupid reason to be annoyed, but she sounded absolutely dreadful, I had to change the channel eventually cos I was getting second hand embarrassment

Is this irony or just xenophobia? English people are the most well travelled across the world..Maybe you should read a history book.
