So true! Whenever I talk to people here in NYC or US in general, they always talk **** about “white people”, and they know that I am fully European but they don’t consider me white but then again they say I’m white or I can pass as a white person lol

Didn't even know she was claiming to be Spanish in the first place as I'd never heard her accent until now. Hearing the difference between accents is stark and the bit about cucumber is particularly bizarre. The fact it wasn't a case of her just not being able to get the word out but claiming that she'd temporarily forgotten the English word for what she was trying to say is now proof that this was a deliberate effort to be something she wasn't. To hear her talk of her ethnicity, she sounds like a lot of Americans who don't have a clue about the European country of Spain or anything about Europe at all. Europeans do not view Spaniards as non-white, it's just Americans who are under the impression that Hispanic is a different race and treat them accordingly whereas in Europe, it couldn't be more different. Her way of talking about how she views her ethnicity is not the way that a native Spaniard would talk about their heritage. She probably liked the idea of being thought of as a minority because, while that can result in negativity towards you, there's a very positive side to it as well, particularly if you surround yourself in liberal circles. You'll get thought of as cultured, different, special. And Americans love detailing stories of their families origin and she wanted an interesting one of her own just like them. Her attempt at backtracking just makes her look worse. She'd be as well owning up, just take the flak and move on.

Hilaria Baldwin 'misrepresented' over 'fake' Spanish roots
Hilaria Baldwin has said critics who have accused her of faking her Spanish roots have been "misrepresenting her".  "There is not something I'm doing wrong."
She said she speaks with varying degrees of a Spanish accent depending on how happy or upset she is feeling.
