I wouldn’t even say „not good enough for an album“ but I‘d say a song that doesn’t necessarily contribute to the vision of a whole record and its theme. because The Cure is amazing, it just doesn’t belong on any of her albums. On another note: I feel like ally‘s pop songs, The Cure and We Could Be Lovers were probably recorded with the „OG LG5“ in mind, before Mark Ronson came into the picture and the project turned into Joanne. Makes total sense with the aesthetic she had before joanne, and they sound very cohesive together. John Wayne and Dancing In Circles actually also work well with them so they could have been created before the direction completely changed. The problem here is the rights they have to pay to producers, writers etc. I guess that's why they "leak" songs istead of releasing for free or cheap.
