It should be noted that many other countries are likely to have this mutant strain but the UK is getting all the heat because the UK scientists have been much quicker to identify it than other countries. It hasn't been proven to be more deadly and the vaccines will still very much likely work. Several experts urged caution, saying it would take years — not months — for the virus to evolve enough to render the current vaccines impotent.

Also, coronavirus does not mutate nearly as much as influenza does meaning it's less likely a vaccine would need to be developed every year to keep up with the strains.
