A new mutant strain of coronavirus has entered Britain from South Africa

A second mutated strain of coronavirus even more infectious than the one already wreaking havoc on the UK has been found in Britain after entering from South Africa.

Matt Hancock (Secretary of State for Health & Social Care) revealed two cases of the South African variant of the virus — called 501.V2 — have been detected so far in contacts of people who'd travelled back from the country in recent weeks. 

It is the second mutated Covid strain to be announced by the Government in as many weeks and this version is even 'more transmissible' and has 'mutated further' than the one which emerged in Kent in September, Mr Hancock claimed.

Its the SA strain which is similar to the variant discovered in London... only this one is even more effective at transmission and is deadly among children. If this strain comes in contact with the London strain, it could mutate again into something worse
