Before A Star Is Born she used to write just good lyrics (with exceptions, like Marry The Night, Bad Romance, Yoü & I etc).

With ASIB and Chromatica she made clear that she can write great lyrics. 911, Replay, Sine From Above and Babylon are masterpieces.

Imagine her writing in ten years! :bradley:

Imagine thinking that "Yeah I looked with my face up to the sky but there was nothing there, yeah I stared while my eyes filled up with tears but there was nothing there. I heard one sine from above and then the signal split in two, the sound created stars like me and you, before there was love there was silence" is basic

If you knew something about songwriting,  you would agree that it's basic. It ventures into abstractions so far that it doesn't have any real meaning. It is a substanceless product ( I love it though it is just a meaningless bop) . Even Gaga had an extremely hard time explaining what it is about.

I agree about sour candy, but fun tonight? It has very emotional lines  and it references two of her past hit songs too

it’s definitely cute but there’s nothing particularly special about the lyrics

there’s very few metaphors, analogies, description, alliteration, any linguistic devices that help make a song lyrically good. nothing to analyse.

it’s pretty straightforward, though it is a pop song so that’s not atypical

Clearly Babylon.... the word play and topic is just amazing... and that " strut it out, walk a mile, serve it, ancient city style, talk it out, babble on. Battle for your life, Babylon!" is just iconic! It´s poetry...

Spoiler

Have I mentioned that Babylon (along with Alice) are my favorite songs ever made?

"Every single day, yeah I dig a grave, then I sit inside it, wondering if I'll behave" is ICONIC:firega:
