Physical was great the rest not so much imo and most people I know irl hate don’t start now cause they overplayed it forever.

that being said it’s an okay album. Nowhere near chromatica or even DISCO though

Why do they insist on pitting women artists against one another in this sort of fashion? They rarely do it to men. Like...leave that sort of sh*t to stan twitter if one must...but critics shouldn't indulge in it.

Also, I love Dua and FN but um...Kylie and Gaga way outsold in the UK and Gaga way outsold in the US. FN flopped on the Billboard charts, even if DSN was a big hit single. She's a streaming force, but outside of streaming Dua hasn't done anything close to Billie, etc.'s #s.

Listen, at the end of the day, this article says

2020 is the year she became a pop behemoth. She... became one of pop’s most exciting major players: she out Gaga’d Gaga and out Kylie’d Kylie”

”Lipa is making hay while the sun shines. And why not, for a pop star who’s been building to megastar status breaking through when arenas are closed and clubs left dark?”

And I don’t disagree, she made herself known, she had impact, she performed, created events, did remixes, multiple videos, she provided a lot of content. But that doesn’t mean that she’s the next Lady Gaga or the next Kylie Minogue. She simply just made herself more known in the public eye this era that the other two ladies, which is understandable seeing as she is a newer act and NEEDS to promote her work. It’s not discrediting either Gaga or Kylie, it’s just an observation.

Thats all I wanna say, this is all very tiring :messga:

I agree with all of this (I love Dua). I think it's the line "she out Gaga'd Gaga and out Kylie'd Kylie" which is annoying people. Some because of typical stan stuff (dislike anyone preferring x to y) and for the rest of us it's a combination of stan stuff and disliking when women artists are unnecessarily pitted against one another. Also, unless it's specifically referring to Dua producing a ton of content (which isn't how I interpreted the line)...it's an overreach.

That said, ironically I'm sure this is how some of the Madonna fans felt about Gaga when Gaga first burst on the scene in that people were acting like Gaga had "replaced" Madonna after 1 album. Except...they also had to deal with ageism (people bringing up that Gaga was younger) and the fact that Gaga...well (and again, I LOVE Madonna) has far better vocals than Madonna.

Standard. This year it is Dula, next year it will be someone else and so on. We'll see how will she doinnn her 6th album and 12 years into her career. Everyone gets their 5min of fame.

FN is a good album nevertheless, too bad her war-fascist propaganda outshined it for me, but anyway good luck miss Peep and see you in 12 years.

“war-fascist propaganda” lmao 😆 Not sure if you’re serious about that!
May I ask you where you’re from?

This article is just comparing the 3 artists in 2020 and this was Dua Lipa’s year because of the music/videos/performances/looks/dedication and she’s doing way better than Gaga and Kylie worldwide + FN is a better album overall.
All of you haters can seethe! People on this website seem to hate any pop star who’s doing better than Gaga :fthis:

don't start now was the most succesful female song on billboard and the most streamed female song on spotify

So no, people "irl" clearly do not hated the song, unless you live in an alternate reality.

Future nostalgia isn’t even the kind of music gaga would make though so the comparison is just pointless

Would make or could make?

I just stated my opinion. Yes, the song was very popular but like I said a lot of people got tired of hearing it over and over at least that’s what I’ve heard from friends who listen to pop radio. Maybe people you know feel differently and that’s okay. Lol. No one is pressedt. Why be rude to people for no reason?  I loved physical and liked some other songs. IMO I liked the other albums better and it’s okay to say that.

Stay kind :)

studio 2054 was a mess? i thought it was pretty good

it might have been good, but..
just the fact that kylie's mic was turned off when she was supposed to be singing together with Dua is just..

meanwhile, Kylie's Infinite Disco concert is an example of what artists should be attempting, she delivered it like no one else could so far

The article is unprofessional for behaving like stan Twitter, and you seem to have fell for it. Of course Dua is doing better, she promoted more than anyone this year, but it isn’t really fair to compare them.. I mean, try comparing Born This Way to FN, both their 2nd albums, who wins? It’s just music and we shouldn’t feed into the stan wars.
