Gaga is slowly becoming an “Industry Puppet”

Besides performances, I think fans want interaction with Gaga more than anything. We only hear from her really if she has something to sell or promote. If she talked to us more in between the money making ventures, people would probably take it better.

She has very good reason not to talk to us though. I imagine it could probably be very stressful on her. I don't really blame her. She doesn't live to entertain us.

At the same time you aren't obligated to support or praise everything she does either. It's not like shes hard up for money.  If something doesn't interest you, you can simply ignore it and just enjoy the music she's given us.

miss taylor swift actually giving her fans everything they want. + still chasing for #1 hits. with releasing new versions of her new song for a #1 debut. Gaga would never lol

Gaga has had two number one hits in the last two years... do you guys care about success, promo, or what? First you criticize her for being money hungry, and now you want her to release more versions to chart higher? Make it make sense.

success comes with promotion. Shallow went #1 thanks to promotion.

and lets not talk about rain on me because ariana is the reason why rain on me went #1 and thanks to NO promo the song went down the charts quickly.

Stupid love debuted at #5 but the next week it was -25 and #30.

we cant ignore facts. Promotion is the key and its a MUST.

nobody can blame her if she wants to make more money, but she should make them from her movies and music. not from non sense haus labs make up that everyone dragging her on youtube.

I agree with most of your point but the last part:ladyhaha:

She's worth over 300 million dollars. She could never lift a finger again and still make thousands if not millions every year from royalties/streams/old album sales. She's really not struggling to pay her bills.

poor people clearly don’t know how money works. being worth 300million can change quite quickly, not everything she’s worth is liquid cash, and releasing music is not as lucrative as you think.

At some point the radio momentum has to carry a song. Gaga is 34, and promo can only do so much. Lol, yes Ari contributed to getting ROM to #1 but Gaga doing collabs is just smart, and she has done less high profile collabs than most of her contemporaries. Radio spins is a major factor, and promo can only boost a song so much if radio doesn't give Gaga a chance.

But... she was always like that

early in her career it was the Beats headphones for example, Google, Twitter and so on

There’s always a sponsor behind her projects and she needs to promote them, nothing serious tbh, her problem is that she does in a very robotic way so it looks obvious lol

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Gaga is going to want to start a family soon and concentrate on activities that give her time for that.  Get used to a drought between musical projects, it's coming.

nope.

Chromatica lost 2nd week at #1 by few copies

lost 5th week in Top10 by few copies

Rain on me lost 5th and 6th weeks in Top10 by few copies.

if she or her team actually cared for this era wouldnt be frontloaded as much.

but who needs to make money from music when you can easily grab your cash from haus labs make up, right?

just keep deny facts. one they it will hit hard in your face :fail:

You all need to quit with the "Haus labs is a cash grab" comments.  If all she wanted was a cash grab she could easily have simply licensed her name to any cosmetics company in the world.  Instead she decided to start a completely new business, get venture funding, etc, doing it the hard way.   This is a woman who has been passionate about fashion and makeup her entire career.   Clearly Haus labs is as much a passion project as anything else she's done.  Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that Gaga doesn't consider it an important part of her career, clearly she does.

I'm not a success stan, although this era was much more successful and promoted than eras like High Road and Smile, which were released by people who debuted alongside Gaga. Do you just want Gaga to be charts obsessed? If she missed certain milestones by a few copies what difference does it make? Eras nowadays are more frontloaded, the public attention is split and we have shorter attention spans. You guys are in for a rude awakening if you aren't satisfied by #1 songs, #1 albums and Gaga being the most awarded woman of 2020. Radio is going to ignore Gaga after LG7 and she is smart to not put all of her eggs in the music industry basket.

I think this is the issue that some people have. Back in the day, it used to just blend into her artistry but now it does seem rather cold and robotic as you said however it would've blended into the era perfectly had 2020 gone to plan which it didn't.

if you compare lady gaga with the people like kesha and katy the standards must be really LOW like low low. :rip: and yes its not wrong to care about charts and getting hits left and right. it shows how strong you are in this business and how public keep showing you and your music some interest.

I define passion as a thing you're feeling when you are extremely proud of art you created and you want everyone to see/hear it. I see passion as the need to explain the world you created. I see passion as standing behind your project and trying to appeal to other people through it. I just don't see her loving this record and it was prominent even when she talked about it saying someone had to make her record the vocals for it. I don't have to explain myself for my personal subjective opinions on this tho.

I think referring to her as a “puppet” is a little degrading and takes away any sort of autonomy she has over her choices. We know she has issues feeling objectified, and that’s ultimately why “music, not the bling”. She’s said before she has no problem backing brands that align with her vision and ultimately give her coin to do what she loves. That’s why we got that crazy SXSW show sponsored by Doritos. It has been said that a lot of stuff she’s been working on was delayed due to COVID, because they are tied into sponsorships and some of these companies don’t want to launch anything right now. The Oreo campaign is arguably the biggest one she’s had since the “Stupid Love” x Apple partnership all the way back in February, so I would say it’s a good sign that things are about to get moving.

She said she wants the music to be heard everywhere, and brand alignment is what does that and appeals to different audiences because of the various places the ads are featured. Dua Lipa’s “Physical” was a crossover with Pepe Jeans, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” had a tie in with Mercedes Benz, etc. That’s not even scratching the surface of all the brands tied to those massive campaigns. Chromatica will be no different. That’s just the way the industry works these days because nobody buys music anymore. I get it’s frustrating, but it’s not like she can back out of these things when she takes their money.

I would also argue that since the tour was delayed, it makes far more sense to do most of the promotion (videos, performances, interviews) when people are actually wanting to buy tickets to an event. It benefits her far more to wait than essentially waste promo spots way too early and have people forget she had done anything at all. This is where she makes most of her money, and if the rumors are true that it wasn’t selling that great to begin with, she’s probably going to be working very hard to make sure it does when the time comes.
