She sang live, with a backing track. As the perfomance was pre-recorded, they probably used multiple takes to get the best shot, kind of similar to what Gaga did with the VMAs

I was hoping she wouldn't sing this song for the performance, but I'm not as disappointed with the performance as I was expecting. The background singers & band added a new quality to the song that was missing in the studio version.

It felt a little too meh for me... while i really enjoyed her cover that she released. I wish she sang that

I would've enjoyed that much more, as well. I would've even preferred a poetry reading or Summertime. I'm sure she struggles to give performances where she carries her voice like in YNWA & Summertime, but this pre-recorded live performance would've been the perfect opportunity to blow us away after so long of her US television reputation being so damaged.
