Taylor S. is closer to her fans than any other MPG

Definitely. She treats her fans like family members. That’s the reason why she has consistent first week sales. Gaga is close to us but not as much as she used to be (btw/ARTPOP days). Someone who didn’t secure a fan base would be Katy Perry. She relies on the gp... and I can see Rihanna going that route because she’s a gp driven artist.

Tbh Taylor has a real fanbase. LM have always been kinda cult-ish, I guess that’s how Gaga played it since the very beginning in 2009 and now we see the results

I meant favs as any other artist because I don’t know who’s favorites are for every user here but I guess you do...

But now that you mentioned Gaga, she did Meet and Greets for enigma for a whooping $2,000 per ticket, and there was no restricts there so....:huntyga:

I hate comparing celebs, but lbr M & G are usually part of VIP packages (it's not charging only to meet a celeb) & also the brainchild of the record labels. Other artists have basically said their labels have pushed them to do it/add them into VIP packages.

I'd be shocked if Rihanna still has fans based on her lack of music. No offense to Ri, I love her music. I just can't imagine supporting Gaga if she did that to us

Yeah I've dragged the h*ll out of 90% of the LM but in all honesty Gaga kind of cultivated it from 2008-2012-ish and is now seeing the results. Still doesn't mean Gaga deserves their behavior, though.

I actually think Adele probably has the healthiest relationship to her fan base. Taylor is very sweet and her fan base is very supportive (you would never see them dragging her vocals all over twitter and making it a viral thing), but inviting them to her house seems...not safe...and setting unrealistic expectations.

Eh, there are lots of casual fans and former hardcore fans who will still buy music even if she puts it out irregularly. I feel like Lorde has more of an issue with the huge time gaps since she has so little content in the first place.

Gaga never charged for M&G until Joanne, and also she said in a interview that sometimes when fans try to touch her her body will start aching due to fibromyalgia:triggered:

It's not fair to compare Gaga and Taylor because Gaga's mental and physical state is in a more vulnerable place.

Yes if you appeal to a bunch of broken teenage gays and make them call her their Mother obviously very dangerous mentalities are bound to arrive. That’s why LM will never be pleased because she became a motherly figure more than just their favorite artist

Yeah I don't get pitting Tay and Gaga against one another. I think it's great Tay does it for free, but I also think a) there has been enough evidence to show labels push for M & G to be add ons and b) fans should stop acting like artists charge solely to meet them (99% it's part of an overall VIP package) and c) M & G are kind of awkward in the first place since fans can be so inappropriate (look at what happened to poor Charlie XCX)

I wasn’t comparing to Gaga, I  didn’t mention Gaga until the second user said that I was talking about Gaga for saying your “favs” :bear:

She meant well, for sure, but I absolutely agree that fashioning herself as a mother figure had consequences.

I really like Katy Perry and Bey, too, and I feel like there is a slightly similar dynamic with both of their relationships with their fan bases. For example, Katy initially came across as the sweet, kind of ditzy, sexy fun girl next door...so when she cut her hair, started getting political, and hit her early 30s fans backed off. Which is sad, because there is nothing wrong with anything that Katy did and you know ageism played a major role...but her image was cemented in the minds of many as the 25 year old with a whipped cream bra who told fart jokes.  Bey played into the royalty angle—again, nothing wrong with it—and then some of the hive got crazy and started treating her like actual royalty.

Taylor, Adele, Rihanna, and to a lesser extent Ariana have healthier dynamics with their fans imo.

I didn't latch you I just said gaga has all the reason to charge for M&G in case other people don't know she did it due to her illness

swifties are kinder and more supportive to Taylor than any other fanbase to their favs:huntyga:  they really deserve what they got from Taylor

I mean I listen to her singles but that’s it. She doesn’t seem like someone to stan. She doesn’t write her music, she can’t really sing and can’t dance. Her album tracks are horrible besides Anti and Rated R. I feel like she just likes releasing singles and that’s it. She’s a gp driven artist like Katy. She never had a top 10 debut until Work and her albums debuts are really small compared to her peers. That shows that she doesn’t have a lot of fans but causal listeners instead... which is not a good thing her future
