Also... this YouTuber is right: who wants neutral makeup from Lady Gaga?

Like, it just doesn't make sense.

Does Gaga not understand her audience?

People who would buy makeup from Lady Gaga want excitement and difference... she's never going to appeal to the 'beauty' types her products often seem targeted at.

There's a major disconnect going on with the brand.

It's also as though Gaga herself doesn't want the brand to be 'Gaga', which suggests a serious lack of self (and commercial) awareness. Whether Gaga 'feels like' Gaga anymore is irrelevant to her public image and what she's known for and where her name holds weight.

Like what are y'all expecting from the makeup line? That everytime you open the pallet, it sings for you? :billie:  Like she gave colour, she gave shades, she gave lipglosses and lip liners... even included cool face lace. The packaging isn't dull or basic, and neither are the promo for the brand... its very on brand for Gaga (ARTPOP and BTW) so...

At the end of the day, its just make-up in a fancy box, and cool promo looks, from a well established musician.

I absolutely agree with what she says, I mean, HL doesn’t have a clear artistic direction and seems a bit lost. I wouldn’t be surprised if HL disappears in a few years.

I don't disagree with what she's saying but to quote Trixie Mattel "That's a lot of emotion for safe." :triggered:

All I got from her video was pettiness, angry vibes, angry she didn’t get an invite to Haus Labs party, and that she clap her hands so many times I lost count.

All you got from a 30 minutes long video where a beauty reviewer... reviews makeup from tons of brands...

... is that she's angry and jealous at Haus Labs specifically.

I wonder why :awkney:

I don't even know why Gaga decided to venture in makeup :yennefer:

She's too good for that.

she’s really not lol

i mean, owning a makeup brand wasn’t something cheap of half-assed until recently. rihanna was rly the only major celebrity makeup brand, and it’s genuinely good. created with passion and quality.

then came the others.

haus labs imo makes sense in a way, because gaga’s look has always been a focal point. her looks are often more iconic than the songs they’re tied to.

but then there’s kesharose beauty, rare beauty, jlo beauty, whatever alicia keys’s brand is called, and the consistency and quality went down. but gaga’s committed to HL, possibly more than her music

(i will say, rarebeauty looks pretty good too but it’s part of the trend still)

Are people expecting/asking too much of make-up brands? Like its make-up, its not something that can be given depth like music can. You put it on your face to looks artsy or whatever. Like to me, its nothing special.

The whole point of Haus Labs was to create a community around expressing yourself hoe you wish to be expressed. Instead of promoting the brand in the view of "this can make you look more beautiful" (which is extremely harmful and unnecessary), HL went with the idea of including everyone from all backgrounds and promoting the idea of them being free in their artistc choice. That's the direction of Haus Labs, hence the slogan, "our haus, your rules"

I mean you could also say the same thing about perfumes. How can they be given depth etc yet TF perfume was so innovative and iconic. Haus labs could at least get more creative with the colours and packaging

Idk, the advert for The Fame perfume was iconic as well as the bottle. But thats it.

She’s entitled to her opinion, like everyone, but I think Haus Labs has actually great quality and I personally really like it.

Also what has this thread turned into? I understand the whole stereotype thing but no one blatantly told her she was ‘an angry black woman’ and that her race in any way makes her less of a person. Wtf? Such nonsense.

i really wish i could understand the issue with calling a black woman angry, when she clearly was, at least, shady.
for me it's like telling you can't call chris brown violent.
or that you can't call me femme :ohwell:
