In an ideal society, we should be able to call anyone anything without racial stereotypes in mind, but we do not live in an ideal society. We live in a society where race DOES matter a lot, and it's important to be careful with words.

By definition, you're not aware of your implict bias. Seeing any black women who expresses strong-ish emotions as angry is a very widespread bias, and we're not asking you the moon when we ask you to be mindful about that.

It's all subjective, but I am genuinely confused at how you see this as angriness. It's perfectly average in terms of emotions for a beauty review.

The last thing world needs, is another beauty brand... truly   I don't really care for make-up (or Haus Labs) but what I will say is that we got some amazing looks from the promo shoots. I just wish more energy was invested in music rather than make-up, but alas

Thoughts as I watch:

- “ignore the pictures of Gaga, would you know it’s Gaga’s brand” uhhh? Without knowledge of Rihanna would you think a Fenty product screams “Rihanna!”?

- “why would I go try out something new” uhhh idk that’s what people do? Why would anyone try any brand they haven’t before, or any new brand period?

- “from Lady Gaga I would at least expect the full rainbow in eyeliners” lmaoooooo

- I agree the packaging should be a lot more Gaga and exciting/actually DIFFERENT

Overall she had some points, didn’t have others, it’s a YouTube video lol there are millions just like it so not a big deal

And aside from racial issues, there's also this tendancy from pop stans to be so defensive about everything.

Chill the **** down. This is as constructive and thought out as it gets. She makes valid points whether you like it or not and her video is LITERALLY about reviewing brands... so keep your "if you don't like it, don't talk about it" rhetoric (which is probably the most irritating mentality in history of mankind) for yourself.

No one called any of you full-blown racists. We highlighted (which is very different from calling out) a behaviour that may or may not be problematic and asked you to exhibit good faith and check yourselves and your potential biases. Being asked to be mindful about racial stereotypes is NOT an insult and it does become problematic when you take it so personnal and vehemently shut down the conversation.

This tho honestly haus labs makeup isn’t edgy or interesting or boundary pushing the way her whole persona and career is 

literally the slogan of the brand is “our haus your rules” but it’s literally just makeup, it’s not even like they’re playing off the products as dual purpose or multifunctional, which is a very easy way to market. for example Jeffree star’s liquid lips are all eye safe so they can be used anywhere on the face. Nope Gaga just has eyeshadows that are eyeshadows, lipglosses that are lipglosses, eyeliners that are eyeliners etc 

you’re trying to tell me I can use my eyeshadow pallette in whatever combination my heart so pleases and buy whichever blush and bronzer or lipliner and mix and match?
