Unfortunately, it’s been like that since at least the 80s, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

The standards and criticisms female artists are subjected to have no comparison with those of male artists.

Well when Ed, Justin, Shawn, etc, etc can get away with wearing jeans and playing a guitar in one spot for 2 hours but female artists would get criticized and dragged for doing the same... yeah the standard is not the same.

adele is solely a vocalist though. she's never been one of the pOP guRlz. 

artists like shawn, justin, etc. are considered contemporaries to the 'pop girls' when they do half the work. there are only a few men that put on a show to somewhat of the same level (or at least try); harry styles and the weeknd come to mind.

Id say pop in general is rarely taken seriously, therefore people see it as manufactured music with the artist being a sell out. I find it to be a half truth
