About Lady Gaga’s Superbowl performance Whoopi Goldberg said something along these lines back then:

If you didn’t get the message, it probably wasn’t meant for you to hear.

I’ll leave it at that.

As a women who doesn't place all her value in her vagina and using it to please men.

You're probably right.

Random Gaga got it in 2015, wasn't she pretty quiet this year? it was AHS era?

From now it looks random but 2015 was gaga's rennaisance year. after the sound of music tribute she gained such goodwill with the public again and popped in tons of appearances over the years. Plus she reinvented her image as a true vocalist post CTC. and then entered acting with AHS. And ofc she continued her philantropy work.

Cause when you look at her 2015 stuff, it's when she started being called an icon, and the media that dropped her after ARTPOP, started embracing her whole work after that. So yeah, not a full busy era, but it was an important year for her, and I can only remember little monsters being so excited about her happy and fulfilled she looked.

WAP was a cultural reset :diane: how many news channels and politicians are talking about other songs, esp by N*ck* if you wanna bring her up.

That might be true and all but it’s basically a meme to everyone. I doubt many people actually take it serious as an actual song. I’ve seen more memes and hate about the song than praise.

I don’t really know all that about her political stances and actions all I know is that I don’t take it serious since she can’t even type a proper sentence and literally threw a party during a pandemic.

And where is her apology or regret? Holy **** it should be the NORM to not put it in your music. If it was a male commuting these acts and being open about them they wouldn’t have a career or reputation left.

I don’t think masses chanting the song after the Biden-Harris victory is “being a joke.” Hearing that song blasted in such a historic political moment really shows that people connect with it.

So you’re saying only people with good linguistics are worth being heard? It doesn’t matter that she actually talked with Bernie Sanders about M4A and the unique struggles POC face in society, because she can’t “properly form a sentence”? Because she talked about politics in a way I have yet to hear from people like Gaga. Talking specifics.

She literally says she regrets it, just because there is not a “Sorry you guys” in the statement, it’s not an apology and it gets you to say “she takes pride in it”? Get a grip, public apologies are PR, worthless, they don’t mean sh*t. The only people deserving an apology from her are the men she did this to. She didn’t to this to you or me, so why should she apologize to us?

You're probably right.

As a woman shaming women for being openly sexual, it was probably “against” you, saying “I don’t care if you approve of the way I talk about my body”. So most definitely I am right.

About Cardi B, she was one of the first celebrities to adress coronavirus as a serious threat to society (and with her humour to help us handle lightly), she engaged in political conversations and adressing awereness over the elections. Dropped bops over the year, and even if WAP is just a fun sexual song, she still made time to talk about women's health when promoting it. She does serious things with her comic behaviour and it feels much comfortable her doing so. I say it's totally deserved.

However on the other awards, I'd invert Dolly Parton with the Icon and JLO to receive the hitmaker award. The other way around feels so weird tbh

this.

it baffles me how people in here try to belittling the song and its impact, without noticing how belittling it proves its point, and highlights its importance.

Please don’t tell me you take a crowd of people cheering ‘I want you to park that big truck right in this little garage’ serious. This song is just a pure meme and is just seen as humor. That isn’t even a bad thing. But it isn’t taken serious.

You’re taking my second argument too serious. Everyone has the right to be heard. I’m just saying it’s hard to take someone like that serious. Gaga (who we shouldn’t even bring up in this discussion) is generally well-spoken and elegant and taking her serious politically is easier than taking someone like Cardi who puts up a weird accent, can’t properly type a sentence and has been in so many problematic situations and fights. Also, again, her throwing a party in a pandemic makes me question her intentions.

You actually bring up a valid point but the thing here is that she maybe shouldn’t have brought it up in the first place and it seems like she’s kind of ‘getting away with it’. Again, any male doing this would instantly lose their career and reputation.

You actually read or listen to the lyrics? Im not "shaming" anyone. It's women degrading themselves for men. The song wasn't about getting pleasured or self pleasure. It was about pleasing MEN and getting paid for doing it.

Spare me with that faux feminism shyt. People need to call it a fun, mindless song and go. Trying to make anything intellectual or empowering out of it is full of shyt.

I feel bad for mothers raising daughters right now, especially those of color, when most of the popular songs right now about their private parts and how well they can pleasure men with them.

If you think otherwise, it is what it is.

About the first thing: The song is not that serious, but the reaction it received, and the way it is basically people really loving OR hating it shouldn’t be brushed aside as just “meme” without value. Looking at the people who celebrate it but also looking at the people who oppose a f*cking stupid song about having (sexual fun), it paints a clear picture about where we as a society stand.

I brought Gaga into this because she is notably outspoken politically, this forum is about her and these last years she started to talk about politics in the safest way possible, while Cardi reminds me very much of the fearless outspoken Gaga we had till 2012.

On a side note: We always ask “who is the new Gaga?” and I actually think Cardi is very comparable to Gaga, while or maybe just because she is just so different.

Thank you for validating the importance of this song, underlining the feminist nature of it, and showing your view on women and their sexuality with this post.

I’ll leave it at that.

‘Queen of Rap’? :ladyhaha: Good joke!

Nicki is a SH!T person but girl has earned her title as Queen of Rap because not only does she actually have influence but she can rap unlike Cardi just shouting and being problematic.

I was going to argue but you’re clearly too far gone in your Cardi stanning and your use of punctuation says enough. I’m clearly not the one losing it.

You’re just mad because Nicki Minaj will never be named WOTY. She had to settle for some made up award back in 2019. What a sad life :toofunny:

REALITY

Look, I have absolutely nothing against Cardi. I like her, but did y'all just magically forget that Gaga raised $128 MILLION for COVID?

Like, I'm sorry, but when some of y'all are like, "Yaass queen! She did that with WAP! So influential!" I just have to roll my eyes :triggered:
