Asteroid That May Collide With Earth In 22nd Century Has Interesting Traits

Large Asteroid "Bennu" which is calculated to come very close to Earth in the 22nd century (with a non-neglegable probability of collision) was being studied by a NASA probe and some interesting discoveries were made about its properties

 

For starters it is mainly hollow (good news if it happened to crash on Earth as it means it's mass is not as large as it appears based on its size)

 

It's also interestingly fragile and tearing itself apart. The asteroid is spinning quite rapidly and it's literally flinging bits of rock away as it rotates, many of which land on the asteroid again due to its gravity

 

NASA believes if it does not land on earth it will probably one day destroy itself and fall apart as it crumbles
