It's her family. I think it's a good way to deal with family members who aren't the way you want them to be. Imagine Katy would cancel the contact and her baby would never see her grandparents because they have a different view of life? A lot of families are broken because of that ****. It shows that Katy is over the things her family says. She has her own mind and stands with it no matter what her family says or thinks. I bet her conversations aren't that great but at least she talks to them.

1) He lost by millions of votes, AGAIN. He shouldn't have been president in the first place. They got lucky with one term of that asshole.

Not everyone wants to do that, let alone can do that. Some people are so estranged from their families that it’s actually a really sensitive subject.

I don’t think anything is  wrong with connecting to family or anyone close because of their support to Trump or other racists/xenophobes...

I think the problem is, again, many privileged people think they understand it but they don’t. Her tweet would be totally fine from a random person on Twitter or someone who has a view k followers. 
 
She is politically aware, she has fans from different demographics  and been around many countries, and ticks almost all of the privilege boxes except for being male. This alone should make her think 10 times before posting something like this at a time where things are still tensed.

Also, using comments like “Twitter is a shithole” “ cancelling celebrities is toxic” is dumb, celebrities and influential figures in societies should be accountable for what they do. 

We wouldn’t get Trump or any other example of extremist populists winning if those celebrities are using their platforms more constructively.

Also, don’t @ me with “but Gaga’s Dad...”

She obviously doesn’t say anything about her relationship with him except the time when she talked about Joanne and she clearly said “She tried to fix him but she couldn’t” 

I think recently she understands her position and how influential she can be and that’s why she doesn’t spit random tweets

I may sound like that celebrities should have a filter when they speak about things like that but I think if they really want to go down to that alley they should have more insight.

1. okay i misread what you were saying there so my apologies.

2. i still don’t get how her saying “call your family” is so offensive? i’m pretty sure she didn’t mean “call your homophobic/racist family”? there are families out there who are split due to opinions, some being political differences. she clearly wasn’t trying to cause something controversial or to upset people. 

3. unfortunately there are people out there who care about economy more than human rights, it’s sad but true. what can we do about this? are YOU going to do something about this is the question you should be asking yourself. screaming through a computer/phone screen and hyperventilating whilst typing off isn’t going to solve it, so please enlighten me about what your plan to contribute to this will be.

i see the logic in this that there is really nothing much that we can do apart from supporting the good things. screaming at trump supporters is like shouting at a brick wall so really we are wasting our time. if you haven’t realised this yet then you really need to. focus on the positive points that will make the world a better place and it will put less attention on the negative. focusing on a minor hiccup that katy made over actual racism/homophobic threats is, once again, delusional.

Come on guys i think all katy is essentially saying is to extend an olive branch to those that may have a change of heart. she is not saying for you to call and apologise to your homophobic sexist or racist family members that trump lost.that would be ridiculous .
