What annoys me the most though is that, besides being a prejudist asshole, he's utterly incompetent, has no plan for the economy whatsoever and we're dealing with the pandemic without a proper health minister, since the previous ones were fired for disagreeing with Bolsonaro's negationist views. We feel like we have no government right now.

Ah, yeah I understand that. I just feel like Brazil's entire political system is corrupted and screwed regardless of how the election turns out. (Not saying much because I am an American). But even then, the fact that Bolsonaro's administration is completely ignoring just about every issue facing the country and allowing illegal burnings of the Amazon to continue  it's so sad. I remember how stunned I was back around when COVID starting hitting Brazil hard and he was saying COVID wasnt a threat while dry coughing and sniffling

Erdogan’s party lost their 20 year Istanbul reign in the mayor election last year by 13000 votes (in a 14 million city) He said there was fraud, acted just like Trump, a re-election was done months later and the opposition won by a 800.000 vote difference!

This election reminds me so much about that, we were all shocked, everyone got out of their homes to watch the ballots getting counted, nobody expected such a big defeat for him, people all of a sudden had hope. 
 

I definitely think these populists will be gone soon and hopefully get punished for their actions, it’s time.

I’m not going to say yes all of them do, because that would be an unfair thing to say to just group everyone together like that. However, I will tell you from experience of those I know who are, are extremely selfish and basically think all of us dems/ those who aren’t trump supporters, are evil, corrupt, and believe Biden is the anti-Christ. Yes it is. Both the people (as a whole, not only politicians) and the rules in place create a favorable environment for corruption. There's very little notion of "public assets", everything is seen as private (the state belongs to the ones in power, and so on). The problem is that, contrary to America, liberalism never really worked here. Civil society rarely moves a finger, and every major economic and social development in the country has been led by the state up to now (notably under dictatorships) - which is why the brazilian right wing is devoid of its own economic project for the nation and relies mostly on a morally conservative agenda to attract voters.
