Why is it always about the “radical left, radical left!” but never the “radical right.” :saladga:

Because we the Republicans are better at branding and messaging.

Calling things Democratic socialism is how we lost Florida. FYI.

Biden spending nothing on Latino outreach in Cuban communities and letting Trump have a month and half of free airwaves in June to spread outright propaganda with zero alternative narrative to counter it lost him Florida.

Biden telling Latino activists to vote for Trump when they challenged him at rallies lost him Florida.

Biden's campaign's official strategy was literally built around the notion that "Latinos weren't a part of [his] path to victory." He trashed socialism his entire campaign and it did nothing for him.

This is, yet again, the same conventional wisdom that the right-wing of the Democratic Party has been repeating for years, the same conventional wisdom that the pundits and commentators that advocated for the exact same strategy that you're calling for now for the last 30 years, the same strategy that Biden ran this time, the same nonsense that almost handed Trump a second term after one of the most disastrous presidencies of all time, right in the middle of a massive COVID outbreak that killed 250,000 people.

I can't believe I'm having to argue this point for the millionth time. I feel like I'm bashing my head against a wall. Kowtowing to Republicans out of some fear that they'll call the Dems socialists, which they will ALWAYS do anyway, has killed the Democratic Party for decades and only helped move the country towards fascism. Enough is enough.

Dude we've turned Red states blue in this election. What part of that do you not understand? And we lost states like Florida to negative messaging against the word socialism. Florida would have flipped blue just like the mid-terms when Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Donna Shalala won their House seats over Republicans.

Florida voted to raise the minimum wage, which Biden supports and he still failed there. Blaming socialism is an easy out instead of blaming Biden's weak campaign. Red states turned blue because Democratic voters turned out, and Trump is intensely unpopular and handled the Covid response terribly, Biden did not win Red States with the help of center right Republicans, he did it in spite of them.

I do agree that we can sell the American people on progressive policies that they overwhelmingly support, without having to use the socialist label.

It's just Republicans and conservatives are going to scream and label you socialist anyway. So at some point you have to start playing ball and going on the offense instead of always playing defense and letting Republicans call the shots and define you.

:saladga: the vote shouldnt be this hard. Do they have a small amount of ballot counters? Its also an issue with Trump constantly throwing lawsuits, not actually getting any results in courts just getting voting halted for several minutes and resumed every several hours.

The vast majority of their lawsuits are being withdrawn by the Trump campaign or being thrown out almost immediately by judges because they have absolutely 0 basis on their claims. They tried to demand counters in Philly and the judge pointed out they already have counters in Philly and asked for their excuse to which they weren't able to reply.

The democrat party needs to understand that just about the only reason they're winning is because of record black turnout in large rustbelt/southern cities. We need to get back in touch with hispanic voters and particularly cuban voters if we want to win another election in Florida. Trump's plays on calling Biden a " radical socialist" worked even though its far from untrue. Winning the rustbelt may have worked this time, but Biden is more popular because he was under a black president responsible for saving the region from economic collapse.

OK, here’s the scoop on Maricopa. The number 53% Trump with remaining ballots would be devastating to Trump, so here is why I am seeing 56% with the rest of the votes there:

Pre drop, it was 912585 Biden, 24409 third party, 838071 Trump

Post drop, it is 944285 Biden, 25747 Libertarian, 880347 Trump

That’s 31700 Biden votes, 1338 Third party, and 42276 Trump.

75314 total votes in the drop.

So, 42.1% Biden, 1.8% third party, and (ugh) 56.1% Trump.

Point being, if we keep it at 56.1% Trump (and there’s good reason that may go down with votes counted later, because uncounted votes in other areas that we have seen are pretty much even) then Trump needs 390,000 or so uncounted ballots in AZ to catch up to Biden.

Source: Looking at the numbers before and after the drop, and doing math on them.

Voters tend to vote different for state measures than the do in the big picture. It’s dumb but it’s how it is.

California just voted down a corporate property tax increase and affirmative action, and it’s one of the most liberal if not the most liberal on the map.

The Presidential race is never about policy just messaging and party. If it was based on policies that Americans want, we would have a Libertarian President every term.

Policy definitely matters, the things you mentioned also matter, but policy is huge. Democrats who cosplay as progressive, or are progressive tend to do well, and centrist Democrats who are older, out of touch and viewed as career politicians tend to fail or win by embarrassingly small margins.

He's so gonna sue for a recount... :saladga:

so counting Georgia is pointless...we need Nevada to hurry up

A recount shouldn’t change much if the poll workers have been doing their jobs properly though. Trump has already tried shutting the Georgia count down which a judge dismissed quickly. Also, the fact that the count is taking a lot of time indicates that things are being done carefully / properly. A recount would only be of benefit to Trump in terms of stalling the result. I doubt Biden will lose Nevada & a lot of good news is coming out of Arizona & Pennsylvania.. if Biden truly wins these states, a recount wouldn’t change anything for Trump. He’ll push for it either way out of desperation.
