This day in 2018, Rosalía released her second album El Mal Querer. The album is a stample in her relatively short discography so far.

Based on the 13th-century Occitan novel Flamenca, each of the 11 songs represents a chapter.

The album in a combination of several genres, such as: Latin pop, new flamenco, alternative R&B, reggaetón and experimental.

Have you listened to this album? What are your favorite songs? Would you like if her next album would follow the same vein?

One of the most intriguing sounds of the last 10 years and one of the best concept albums ever! Yeah I said that! :vegas: Los Angeles was stellar and EMQ genius so I really wish this reggaeton fase is not here to stay...

One of my favorite albums ever! Its concept and execution are genius. To think she made this for her university senior study course :bradley:

I hope she ditches her current sound and goes back to more experimental and distinct production with her next album

Soft, soothing, and succulent

I really tried to get into it but because I don't speak Spanish and maybe don't understand the Spanish culture she includes in her music, I just can't make myself like it...

I do think she's really talented and some of the vocals she delivers are insane!

NORMANDIE

The storytelling is implacable. One in a million.
Eso sí, como subí con dos ángeles
Pues, no me arrepiento de haber bajado
Pero bajar, bajé, ¡eh!
Bajar, bajé

I fear she can never top this:bradley: Most of her new work feels like she is just trying to emphasise how good EMQ was:billie:

The Filip Ćustić artworks are some of the most beautiful album visuals I've ever seen. And the Pienso en tu Mira video matched the album so perfectly.

I only really got into this album in January this year, but my god it’s brilliant

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

That's totally understandable!

For me the only thing that matters is the music in itself and essentially just how pleasant it sounds. Every other aspect (like Language or culture) come in second for me. But for others listening to music is inherentely a subjective experience and your enjoyment of a song depends on the culture and references behing it ofc.

Right! This reoccurring flamenco clap thing on the album, even though they differ in metric and such per song, all sound the same to me (boring), and I'm just left sitting there like "ok, it sounds the same, maybe the story is great? Maybe some lyrical references to other flamenco things are there? I don't understand".

I did love Malamente though, it was catchy, had this nice hip hoppy sound to it. I'm secretly hoping she does a bit more commercial... oh well.

1. She's raising, her label will want her make more mainstream music, she'll tell us "this is the music that can represent her," old fan won't like it, but she'll become so popular and become next Shakira or Jlo. In this timeline she may drop some experimental project.

2. Make the music that more experimental, old fan like her, she may become superstar too consider this generation can accept alternative style artist like Billie Eilish. She may have some pop banger like Con Altura.
