Remdesivir approved as covid treatment

In May, the FDA granted the drug an emergency use authorization [...]. The intravenous drug has helped shorten the recovery time of some hospitalized Covid-19 patients. It was one of the drugs used to treat President Donald Trump, who tested positive for the virus earlier this month. 

The drug will be used for Covid-19 patients requiring hospitalization, Gilead said. Remdesivir is now the first and only fully approved treatment in the U.S. for Covid-19. 

Remdesivir is administered in a hospital setting via an IV.

The majority of patients treated with remdesivir receive a five-day treatment course using six vials of intravenous the drug. The company is also developing an inhaled version of the drug [...]. The company has said the drug can’t be administered in pill form because its chemical makeup would impact the liver.

I never said anything about that i just saw the side effects and effective or not these side effects are not worth it for me

I looked on a pharmacie website you can easily Google the side effects of any medication you dont need a team of scientists for that

Hmmmm these seem like mild side effects in comparison to COVID-19, especially if you’re suffering from COVID severely

In this study it was shown to lead to a faster recovery

 

EDIT:

the WHO did a much larger study with over 10,000 patients and did not come to the same conclusions.

This. I’m shocked its being pushed this much after this. Maybe its better than nothing, but they need to come up with something better.

Yeah... well it is emergency use and not like full fledged approval (at least in America + Europe) they have dozens of ongoing clinical trials and countless therapies in the works right now.  a treatment will come eventually! 

it occurred to me that we'll most likely have a vaccine before a therapy. talk about a reverse Warholian experience :laughga:
