Ariana is my #2 fave after Gagz, but there's no question about who's had more reach. Adele will literally torch any other artist in a sales head-to-head. That being said, I don't see Ariana getting "crushed." It'll be more like a Tik Tok-Bad Romance-Empire State of Mind-Rude Boy type thing – multiple mega-hits at the same time. One song's success doesn't necessarily come at the expense of the other. It's also totally possible that Ariana/Adele's leads alternate at #1 for a few weeks (similar, actually, to how TUN and 7 Rings both returned to #1 for second runs after initially dropping). Adele's appeal is unusually broad, but let's not underestimate Ariana, who's also had an unusual career trajectory – one of the most seamless transitions from child star to bona fide pop star we've ever seen; hit her commercial peak with her fourth and fifth albums after 3 already-successful albums; and, by all indications, appears to be on her way to breaking more records and spawning at least one more #1. tl;dr – they're both gonna slay Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

More likely Ariana performs the following week, to coincide with her album release. Or maybe even the next, so she can try to secure strong second week sales. I also want to point out Adele is HOSTING. HER is the performer. I actually think Adele will not release until December at the earliest, more likely Q1 2021.
