Midknight 460
Hmmm noted on the criticisms. But I'm going to watch this sequel first before saying anything.

ladygagafan1234 700
Avatar is one of the most boring films in history. I couldn't even get halfway when I tried to watch it last year.

What I love about the story is how the background, both the planet itself and it’s ecology, in particular the Tree of Life, become omnipresent characters in the film. It makes the audience ponder the boundary of what is life vs the nonliving, us vs them, choice vs fate, character vs audience. We actually become embedded within the story. In this regard, as well with the other themes of domination vs subversion, good vs evil, revolution vs continuity, economics vs ecology, the story and it’s characters are very Greek/Shakespearian/Biblical in their exposition, which might explain the disdain it gets. People nowadays just don’t get ambivalence anymore. Watch ANY Marvel/DC film of the last two decades and you’ll see how films these days literally are designed for people to know exactly what is happening (and why it happened), rather than contemplating how in actuality we all feel lost amongst it all. I'm not so sure about the rest of the movies in the series tho lol This. Most people here weren't alive then, but the leadup to titanic feels a lot like this movie. Every single person said it'd flop. Delays. Cost overruns. But now?
