If they did what my country did and shut everything down immediately and enforced quarantines they could've eliminated the virus and had everything back up and running in 7 weeks without it affecting the economy too badly... It's too late now though

I’ve gone to bars but they had tables and seats separated. I’m also in NJ where things are 25% indoor.

Clubs aren’t open here because that encourages people to get close (dancing, djs and standing anywhere).

I think that would not be practical. Canada is a huge country and is not an island like Australia and New Zealand. I'm from Oceania and an immediate shut down worked for us because we have a small population so it was easier to detect and control the virus and enforce restrictions.

You are right about that! I really just meant that immediate action was important, but most countries waited far too long to put any restrictions into action, and it's majorly extended the process for them. I'm mad at most of the world leaders for not taking care of their people, both at the start of the pandemic and still now over 6 months in

Yeah even after a pandemic was declared many countries took too long to act.

Yeah but we did pretty early.

 

Thing is action is not the only factor at play. We have more air movement with Europe and affected Countries than NZ which is much smaller and far away

 

The virus was probably already circulating in Canada for some time before the first case was officially detected and the world started realizing how serious this virus was. By then too many had it to eradicate it. The lockdown ended up being about controlling the spikes not getting cases to 0

 

It's so easy to look back now at what we should of done knowing how it turned out. But back in January/February this was so new and we couldn't have known it was going to spread the way it did

 

We've had so many false alarms on past epidemics not that long ago that did not turn into global pandemics like Sars (which is in the same family as Covid-19), H1N1, the big ebola outbreak that there was no reason to assume this was gonna be different

 

I can understand not wanting to go into full lockdown and destroying the economy everytime a thread comes up. Only this time it turned out to be far more contagious and harder to contain than those other threats

 

Now there are Countries that continued to be lax once the seriousness was clear and stuff and I agree they have made it so much worse. But I'm saying that wasn't the case here in Canada but for us the lockdowns didn't eradicate the virus so it doesn't work like u said for everyone

 

Again it was probably in circulation here longer so by the time action was taken too many ppl probably had it to eradicate it

Clubs have been open this whole time?   No club in the world should be open till a vaccine is out, It sucks but no way in hell are hundreds of drunk people going to be following any kind of rules.

They been open only since stage 3 reopening which was sometime mid summer if I recall correctly

 

We actually had a pretty severe lockdown. Only grocery stores were open practically and even that had restrictions on how many ppl could go in at once and u had to wait out in a spaced up line

Still though, I think Nightclubs should be one of the last things to open back up
