Why not both? Both are achievements in their own ways.

I'm enthusiastic for both a nomination AND a win. But even a nomination in AOTY is a big deal.

Probably because the Grammys as of late has become more popularity contestsย or just straight up predictable and safe with its winners. So a nomination even for album of the year just seems like a standard list of popular and predictable choices losing some of its prestige to me.
