I've been reading this woman's words for as long as I knew how to read, and I refuse to believe there was any malicious agenda behind her tweets. Was it clever to voice those touchy concerns on social media in this day and age? No, because it definitely hurt the very people she didn't mean to bother at all in the first place. I myself had the hardest time to get where she was coming from at first, but she elaborated, gave her reasons and clarified whom her statements were directed to. Do I think she got the full picture? No. Does she have the right to make mistakes? Hell yeah, like you, like me, like everybody else. That's what makes us human, and unfortunately today we cancel or even virtually kill any person who suddenly commits the slightest outrage. I do have a problem with that, I think a society that blocks discussion is an unhealthy one and I'll gladly remain a garbage person if that's enough to make me one.

You are so blinded by this person, it's concerning. At this point, she can tweet that she's a literal transphobe and you'll still defend her. That's how blind you are.

Maybe if her remarks are more homophobic than transphobic, then you'll react differently.

Yeah, because harassing a grown-ass woman online for voicing an opinion and wishing her death through hashtags is not concerning at all.

Literally, people are wishing her career death, not her. But go off, I guess.

That's preposterous of you to assume, they burned witches for less than that.

Twitter is today's Inquisition, apparently. I guess we haven't changed as a society since the Middle-Ages.

Calling out one transphobic woman is just as bad as genocide?

This thread is so telling. A lot of gay men stan women no matter what they say/do but when it’s time to support their own community they’re silent. Just goes to show you that most people agree with JK’s sentiments deep down or will make excuses for anyone they stan.

She's being harassed and asked to go die, I think it's gone a bit further than a simple call out.

I don't need you to feel embarrassed for me, you're doing great for yourself.

I suggest reading more than Twitter headlines, maybe? I can support my trans friends while still thinking JKR has the right to voice whatever concern she has, thank you very much.

I have read further than twitter headlines.

Then what part about being compassionate towards trans people while respecting biological women's experiences did you not understand? :awkney:

I have some things to say about your comment. Many users won't like it but it's just what I think. The type of gay you described I call "women pet". Those gays that say things like "all men are potential rapists" even though they're also men. Thank God, I'm not a women pet. So I agree with the first part of your statement. But regarding our community. Not trying to be disrespectful to anyone, I don't feel gays and trans are part of the same community. I mean, sexual orientation is way different from a person that don't see themselves as a man or a woman. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual are one community, transgender and all other gender related are another. I'm aware of the LGBT+, but I'm saying I don't agree with it.

This is going to be the last thing I say on the subject: I did think JKR's statements were confusing and hurtful, but she clarified them, made some points - I don't agree with everything she says and believe she doesn't necessarily has the full picture, but I've actually seen many trans groups willing to have a discussion with her, which is the way to go. I also believe she's a vastly compassionate human being and know enough about her character for being convinced it never was her intention to hurt anyone. And I think people harassing her and rejoicing over her "virtual death" is simply despicable, but it goes with the times we live in I guess.

Nobody makes allies by resorting to violent behavior or speech - it's through discussion and understanding we go forward as a society. Y'all are just no better than the very people that harass us, and I will not stand by the public bashing of this woman.
