Again y’all keep ignoring the conversation about how if 16 year olds are old enough to vote in elections, what stops them from being old enough for everything else?

It doesn't have to be one of those slippery slope things

As an 18 year old, I had the right to vote, and I voted randomly, and Im not kidding, I had no idea what to do, so I voted randomly a candidate then once it was the finalists, I voted what my parents told me to vote. That's all im gonna say

And as a 16 year old, I was heavily invested in the Obama/McCain election and wished I would have been able to vote. Not everyone doesn’t pay attention

Lower the voting age for all elections to 16 and cap it at 70 :tony:

I saw a tweet or something awhile ago that said the voting age should be lowered to the youngest person who’s been tried as an adult

Wouldn't that be like 12? :laughga: but yeah, that would make it a little more fair. If you're going to be thrown into the adult penal system then you should be allowed to influence it.

I have heard a lot about capping the voting age, especially if people are beyond or reaching the life expectance of the term for presidency aka they don’t even have to deal with the consequence of the person they vote for in theory and I kind of agree with that.

Honestly though if they’re gonna lower the voting age just bring the drinking age down to some regular ass age like 19 :enigma:

The point wasn’t just to lower voting age, but also to stop trying 12 yr olds as adults when they clearly aren’t lol

The drinking age is for biological reasons as far as I know. @MJHolland mentioned it earlier.

I'd just like to see the only predominantly Republican age group (65+) stop voting against their own interests, honestly :ohwell:

They're currently supporting a guy who wants to gut social security and medicare which is something so many of them rely on :fail:

I feel like even 16 year olds would make more responsible choices than them. I love old people but old voters have got to be...well, I don't want to wp myself but you can finish that sentence :huntyga:

I can see that sure but for us Canadians it’s 19 and we turned out fine

Is that the secret to Canadian excellence? Early, yet responsible intoxication? :enigma:

I honestly don't know why the drinking age is 21 so I couldn't debate on it :laughga: whether it's a biological thing or just another one of those "Americans are weirdly prude" things.

It just makes sense to be 19 cuz that’s when college/university starts and everyone knows people will do it before they turn 21 anyway so why make people “be sober” for only their first two college years

x factor what GIF
