Blastertoyo 22,728
Aside from the streaming benefit, why did Gaga choose Ariana to collaborate with on Rain On Me? More importantly, how do they get along so well? It’s obviously because they have so much in common. So much, in fact, that I made a list 1. They’re both Italian 2. Both 5’3 3. Started out acting in musicals 4. Made YouTube videos/ vlogs during the beginning of their career 5. Iconic hairstyles (ponytail, blond blunt fringe) 6. Openly embrace the LGBTQ+ community 7. Are big fans of musical theatre 8. Started out with vintage inspired aesthetics and put their own spin on it 9. They both have critically acclaimed voices since their debuts and vocally demanding pop songs 10. Compared to legends since their debuts and considered to be “the next” or “the new” (Mariah for Ari and Madonna for Gaga) 11. Rose to fame during different social media eras (Gaga: YouTube, Facebook, Twitter. Ariana: YouTube (second wave) Vine, Spotify) 12. Excelling at the most popular form of music consumption of their respective era (Gaga: YouTube views, downloads. Ariana: streaming) 13. Have spawned countless impersonators and copycats replicating their looks, costumes, mannerisms and style 14. First two #1 songs came consecutively (thank u, next, 7 rings, Just Dance, PokerFace) 15. Released yingyang albums (Sweetener + Thank U, Next and The Fame + Monster) 16. Discussed fame, celebrity, money and the dark side of fame in said yingyang albums (fake smile, thank u, next, 7 rings, pete davidson, imagine, successful, breathin) 17. Have trauma associated with fame (Manchester, ARTPOP/fibromyalgia) 18. Had engagements dissolve publicly 19. Said goodbye to exes in songs (Thank U, Next and Alejandro) 20. Shifted to a darker, more original and edgy sound, establishing themselves as originals with an album that has a black and white cover where they’re wearing latex/vinyl 21. The Sound Of Music (Gaga Oscar tribute, 7 Rings 22. Queens of Starbucks 23. Worked with Ryan Murphy What did I miss? please enlighten me to death
numb the flame 7,321
I don't think Gaga and Ariana are the same height, Gaga appears to be taller than Ariana even if Ari is wearing bigger heels than Gaga

Sister 9,907
Maybe Gaga just liked Ariana's voice best of all the rest and thought that the song would suit her voice well. It really does. Ariana is also such a sweet girl, so there's that too. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
KatieJudasGaga4 67,907
According to Gaga, she wanted Ariana to be on Rain On Me because: "fellow female pop star who [had similarly experienced] immense trauma while in the public eye" & "I sat with her and we talked about our lives. It's two women having a conversation about how to keep going and how to be grateful for what you do." She hadn't even revealed it was Ariana, but we all knew who it was. I think Ariana was the perfect choice and I honestly can't see anyone else on the song but Gaga and Ariana. They made a perfect song together when some fans questioned it. BlondeQueenOfGGD 25,454
I’d put Ariana at 5’0 and Gaga at 5’
A Very Gaga Holida 22,355
Gaga is 5'1 though? Many good points (Italians, trauma etc) and you reached a lot too (the vlogs ) Also, there’s probably an ego thing. We all know Gaga can have a huge ego when it comes to her work, she admits it herself and fights against it. Ari is talented (Gaga doesn't collab with untalented people) and very successful, she will make the song succeed even more BUT she's not big enough to overshadow Gaga, and she's a fan so Gaga remains the master & Ari the student in a way
Lord Temptation 11,209
I think the Italian thing was an important factor. She’s always worked with Tony Bennett, another Italian-American, and she’s very clearly proud of her roots.
