When Gaga posted this photo on October 22 of last year did we ever figure out what it really meant or the exact origin of the photo? I remember thinking I had found the book but I’m having trouble remembering anything beyond that.

she's expressing how vulnerable she feels... it's really sad in a way, but probably just intended to be a joke

I think it could be related to this viral meme thing of a picture of an egg becoming the most shared/liked post/photo on instagram. As for what her post means though, I'm pretty sure its just a joke idiom about blind confidence or naivety or something.

I read on a Snapple cap once that “It never said in the nursery rhyme of Humpty Dumpty that Humpty was an egg”

This. Also this was around the time she was creating Chromatica, so this message makes even more sense.

It's a reflection of her mental state.

It's from The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories edited by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The story is a tragedy, because we know what will likely happen to the egg when it attempts to follow the orange's example. As others have said, her citing this reveals her perceived vulnerability and perhaps fear of what will happen when she takes that leap.

I own this book and I love it. If I'm ever having a bad day, I give it a read. It's the Tiny Book Of Tiny Stories. Vol 2 isn't nearly as good as Vol 1, but they're good books to own. Most are sad, honest and real.
