streaming is not killing later singles

I've read many comments about how streaming is making useless to make singles after an album drop but I think that statement is not completely right

Most of the people who stream, play playlists that include the singles and some other songs, so the deep cuts are not always discovered by many people excluding the fans so that's not such a big factor to condemn the future performance of a single

While I do think this is true. I think that labels are too scared to invest in post-album singles for some reason. 

Instead some are making artists release songs to "test the waters" which end up killing the hype for the actual album.

But there are recent success stories even in pop like Harry Styles. 

I think a lot of this is a cop out for stans trying to explain why their fav's eras get cut short when maybe it's just the fact that the era wasn't doing well enough to be continued.

No shade though. I wish all these pop artists still had long eras.

I agree, as long as the song is properly promoted and playlisted on Spotify/Apple songs can easily grow in streaming; the song just needs to connect with listeners

it just need promo:  attractive mv radio push even feature remix with streaming artist playlist spamming etc

Watermelon Sugar is a good example of a post-album hit. I wish Chromatica can have that one last hurrah to carry the era until the tour re-starts.
