there are people who are becoming immune to antibiotics because they took it so much

It makes me so mad when people do this. I know someone who’s actually a nurse, and every time she has a cold she gets antibiotics. Like...it doesn’t work that way, a cold is a virus :neyde:

Might  is the keyword. And it also might not be. The truth is (to borrow LG's favorite phrase :huntyga:), we just don't know.

Hopefully we can quickly eradicate any future viruses before they turn into full-blown pandemics. One reason Asia has had so much success in dealing with covid is that after SARS, people learned the importance of mask-wearing. Hopefully other countries also will learn from covid, and people will be more careful and conscientious. There's no need to  live inside a bubble, but maybe going forward, we can all try to wear masks out in public when we're sick (even if we think it's just a cold). Little things like that.

Meanwhile, let me go see if that sea captain's mansion in Maine is still for sale so I have a sweet isolated place to ride out the next 1000 pandemics. :staymad:

I mean with the effects of climate change and humans coming into contact with places and animals in places we've never been to before, that brings us into contact with new bacteria and viruses humans haven't before.

There's ALL kinda of viruses out there, and with people having to find new places for resources and food, all it takes is one that can infect humans in one of those places to come into contact with a human and BAM! It has every possibility it could cause what we saw this year and create a new pandemic.

So this article is by no means a lie or to scare people. It's literally giving us the FACTS which aren't always fun.
