Yeah it's supposition, but if she was actually singing into that hand-held mic would she not sound very muffled ?

She's not wrong. The mask definitely affects her voice, not in a good way either. It sounds pretty muffled.

She sang live but the performance was prerecorded so of course there's some edition on her vocals, you can see it clearly during Rain OnMe when her voice sounds loud but her mic is far from her mouth. That's because they edited her vocals to always sound clear and on the front.
